As a black woman who was raised in Greensboro during the 60s and the 70s, and religiously saw what good comes from diverse leadership, today is not a good day!
Today I chose not to suck it up and move on, I’ve overlooked and forgiven those who were against me in-spite of knowing how they really feel too many times. I put their feelings above mine, but not today! 2008, President Barack Obama was elected into office, and me and my family faced scrutiny and were ostracized by our “church family.” I sucked it up, chose to forgive and move on. But I’m not moving on today. I am angry, heartbroken, anxious, and mourning. Today, I am a and I’m ok with that, because no longer will I sit back and allow racism and misogyny to run rampant in my community.
At no point did anyone who voted for Trump the first, second, or third time ever think about people of color, the LGBTQ community, immigrants, the poor, young women, and veterans to mention a few, you considered you and you alone… If my children and my children’s children have to grow up in a world where I had more rights in the 80s-2000s than they do in 2024, something isn’t right.
There will come a point in time where you will feel the full force of your decision and it will not feel good…
Galatians 6:8 – “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
James 4:2 – “You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel”
