This post aims to raise awareness and encourage action. Be aware of your risk and undergo testing for STDs/STIs, as everyone is susceptible to contracting diseases through various means, including sexual in*******se, skin-to-skin contact, bodily fluid exchange, blood transfusions, open wounds, and negligent actions involving contaminated surfaces, shared utensils, or drinks. The stigma surrounding STDs/STIs can lead to shame, embarrassment, negative rumors, slander, and even su***de. Taking the simplest action can have the greatest impact. Know your status and get tested. The following verified resources are available for getting test and additional information: MSDH STD/HIV Office: 601-576-7723, AIDS Task Force: 1-800-826-296
MSDH's STD/HIV Program strives to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV infection. The program also links people to services for disease prevention and control, including health care services for HIV.
