FYI

Greenwood County Council will hold the first reading in title only of Ordinance 2026-25, a proposed 12-month moratorium on data centers, during the regularly scheduled Council meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Greenwood County Library (600 South Main Street).

A first reading in title only is an early procedural step in the ordinance process. During this step, the ordinance will be read by title only. No vote will be taken on the ordinance, and this is not the public hearing for the proposed moratorium.

Residents who wish to address Council about the proposed moratorium at the June 16 meeting may do so during the public comment portion of the meeting. Speakers must sign up when they arrive at the meeting to speak during public comment. This process is different from a public hearing, which provides a separate opportunity for public input on a specific ordinance.

The second reading and public hearing for Ordinance 2026-25 will be held during Council’s regularly scheduled meeting on July 7, 2026.

Also at the July 7 meeting, Council will hold the third reading of Ordinance 2026-19, the proposed data center text amendment.
