To our 2025 graduates, may this be a season of both finding and losing yourselves. Finding yourselves in a season of new growth, exploration, and dignity.

And losing yourselves. Losing yourselves of patterns and friendships that don't serve your greatest potential. Losing yourselves of the expectations of others, of the career your parents think you should have, of the way "things have always been."

You were born for great things, and the rest of us are excited to watch you live them out.

"I hate having my photo taken..."

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that (mind you, right as I'm about to take someone's photo...no pressure, photographer! 😢), I'd be able to fund my IRA and all four of my children's 529 plans for life.

That's a lot of nickels, y'all.

What if there was another way? What if you had your people with you? What if you weren't just having your photo taken, what if you had an experience. A memorable day with friends and family?

Something to capture the spirit of who you are and what season you're in.

Maybe it wouldn't feel like something you hate. Maybe it would feel liberating.

Even joyful.

It's time to reframe our thoughts and mindsets and be open to taking life (and ourselves) a little less seriously.

And enjoying where and who we are.

The crowd was likely humbled, as I was. A testament to the fact that the task at hand isn’t as important as the heart behind those performing it.

Thank you, Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries, for the opportunity to learn a lesson I won't soon forget.

One less balloon in the frame. And guess what? The world didn’t implode. The ground didn’t fall out from under me. But I walked away with so much more than video footage.

What an extraordinary man. Such a pleasure to get to speak with him and get to know him a few years ago when we filmed this. A true example of someone leading change through tragedy. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy with Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont will surely live on in Greenwood.
