I won’t repost the election prayer photo today, because truthfully a whole lot of you aren’t reading or even giving the slightest thought to those words from what it seems to be around you.
Instead I’m going to say this. If you are sitting on a moral superiority cloud because of who you voted for, perhaps don’t publicly be so very hateful to those you know voted differently than you.
I’ve watched the shift happen to my face in the 3 months since I dared to say out loud how I felt about current politics. And over the past 2-3 weeks, the shift has gotten worse, more dark stares & way less love, from folks who’ve stood inches away from me every week FOR YEARS. (In church, mind you.)
The anger in the energy right now is truly concerning, and for the first time in the whole election cycle, I’m feeling anxiety that I cannot shake.🥺 I am scared to think about how we will be towards each other one week from now.
Some of you need to take a long hard look at your heart, and reflect on the whole “Love your neighbor” commandment from Jesus.🫶

The silver lining though, is that the tribe that is still there, they are the real ones. And quality always wins over quantity.🫶

I would like to pose a very genuine question. You can take some time to think, you can answer privately in a message if you want, or answer here. But I am genuinely curious…
This is to my friends who are conservative voters. Imagine you’ve known someone for quite a few years, say through an election cycle of two, and you’ve always felt very highly of them. You thought they were a good soul, a truly kind person, a spreader of the love & mission of Jesus, just all around good people. But then you happened to find out recently that they are a liberal voter, and now that has you feeling some type of way towards them. And let’s be honest, it’s definitely affected the way you treat them now. Why?
What changed other than finding out they vote differently than you, that they don’t support your candidate? Nothing has changed about them one bit, not their morals or values, not the way they treat others, and not the fact that they’ve voted differently from you in the past. The only thing that I can see that’s changed, is that now you are aware of that one difference.
I’ve seen the change of heart in folks towards me, the change in the way they interact with me. And I’m just curious, what changed for you?🫶
