Sellers. Your house has been on the market for 45 days, and you want to fire your Realtor.
Before you do, let me tell you what I'm seeing from the lending side of these deals.
That agent you're frustrated with? They're probably telling you things you don't want to hear. Drop the price. Fix the inspection items. Stage the living room. And you're thinking they're just not trying hard enough.
Here's the reality: I'm watching deals fall apart daily because sellers won't accept that we're in a different market now. Buyers have inventory to choose from, interest rates are still elevated, and they're being surgical about every dollar they spend. The housing market is a living organism that’s constantly evolving.
The listings that are moving? Those sellers listened when their agent said the comparable sales from April don't matter anymore. They made the repairs. They got realistic about pricing. They worked WITH their agent instead of blaming them for market conditions nobody can control.
Your agent can't manufacture buyers who don't exist at your price point. What they can do is position your home to compete in THIS market, not the one from six months ago.
I see the contracts. I know which agents are getting deals done. It's rarely about working harder. It's usually about sellers working smarter. That might be uncomfortable. Good.
So before you fire them, ask yourself: Am I fighting the market or fighting alongside my agent to beat it?
