BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM SUNDAY TO 7 AM CDT MONDAY

🌧️➡️❄️ Precipitation Timeline:
• Sunday morning will likely start as rain across much of Iowa.
• As temperatures fall, precipitation will transition to a wintry mix, which could produce a light glaze of ice in some areas.
• Colder air will then move in, changing precipitation over to all snow.

❄️ Snow Potential:
• Widespread snowfall is expected across Iowa.
• Northern and eastern Iowa could see 6+ inches of snow.

💨 Wind Will Be the Biggest Impact:
• Wind gusts of 55–65+ mph are possible.
• These powerful winds will cause significant blowing and drifting snow and dangerously low visibility.

🚗 Travel Concerns:
• Travel conditions may rapidly deteriorate Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.
• In parts of northern and eastern Iowa, travel could become very dangerous or even impossible at times due to near-blizzard conditions.

⚠️ Bottom Line:
This storm will bring a combination of snow, ice potential, and very strong winds, creating serious winter weather impacts across Iowa.

OUTDATED The first round of storms is expected late Thursday night, with a chance for isolated large hail. Another round may develop late Friday afternoon through early Friday night across parts of Iowa, when the threat for severe thunderstorms increases. All hazards will be possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

Jasper and Poweshiek Counties remain under a Winter Weather Advisory until 9 AM Friday February 20, 2026.

Marshall and Tama Counties has been ungraded to a Winter Storm Warning until 6:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026. They are now predicting 5-8 inches of snow for those areas.

Poweshiek and Jasper Counties are still in a Winter Weather Advisory until 6:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026. 2-4 inches of snow is being predicted for these counties.

..WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches.

* WHERE...Poweshiek County.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow amounts may vary significantly within any one county.

Jasper, Marshall and Tama Counties 2 to 5 inches of snow accumulation is predicted for your area by Friday morning.

Precipitation will spread from western into central Iowa on Thursday afternoon and evening. Initially, it may begin as rain or a rain/snow mix before changing to snow. Light to moderate snow accumulations are expected by Friday morning, but a narrow band of heavier snowfall is expected with amounts quickly decreasing on either side of the band. Snow rates may near or exceed 1" per hour at times leading to quickly accumulating snow on roads and slick travel conditions. A small change in the location of the band could alter forecast snow amounts.
