Beauty through photographer’s eyes
We certainly do not lack beauty here in the foothills of the Ozarks. The lake provides colors and reflections. Like a mirror, the water captures the amazing colors of the sunsets and storm...
Peggy's thoughts and experiences from Grand Lake. Hope you enjoy!

Thoughts, Pages and Stories
Feels good to write. Life without a cell phone, even for just an hour, is good for all of us. Very peaceful. This story was from a couple weeks ago. Just getting to posting it on my blog thoughtspagesandstories.com.
A Couple Hours without a Cell Phone I was abandoned at Chickenellas. The dispatcher said there was a fire near Grove Middle School. Ro...

Peggy's Ponderings ~ Butt hurt
My butt hurts. Seriously. I think I broke my toe, my knee is scrapped up and my tush hurts.
I guess I let myself get so stressed and busy during our rainstorm yesterday I crashed and burned on the back deck of our office.
Flip, flops do not give you traction on wet and slippery concrete.
As if in slow motion, I went from walking to the back door to sitting in a giant puddle of slime, rain coming down to soak me and every page in the file I was holding suffered some form of water damage.
I must have looked like a drowned rat when I stepped inside and asked if someone could get me a towel. We don’t have towels at the office (why would you?) so it was nothing a roll of paper towels couldn’t handle.
Why have I fallen so many times since moving here?
It’s so embarrassing, and no I wasn’t drinking!
I have fallen on the ice at least twice. I now have good snow boats.
I fell in the hallway at the old Grove Sun office, wearing boots with heals. Again the snow wins, Peggy losses because snow doesn’t stay outside. It likes to stick around on the bottom of your shoe until it melts and makes the floor slippery.
I fell into a boat (ok that happens).
Am I just getting old?
Maybe I’m turning into my Aunt Judee. Fearless, fun and always injured from some silly accident. She even stabbed her own foot to the floor of the camper on one of our camping trips. She dropped a knife that went into her foot and out and into the floor. She was stuck to the floor. Several stitches later she was fine, but it’s never fun going to the emergency room on vacation.
Maybe there’s a ghost here in Grove that follows me around and trips me. I thought that when I was walking across the street at Third and Main and fell on my derriere.
No rain or snow that day. Just sunny, hot and me in flip flops again. One second walking. The next I am down! Maybe if we review the footage from the security cameras we will see the shadow of ghost tripping me, then laughing as he glides away to play a joke on someone else.
The most likely culprit of my falls if not my lack of coordination is God. Yep the big guy upstairs sees me all stressed, tells me to slow down, but I don’t, so he trips me. It’s his way of saying “Stop! Smell the roses. Take a deep breath. Listen to the rain. Do some yoga. Be at peace”.
I think he threw the yoga in to help with my lack of coordination but I’ll keep striving for peace. So if you see me walking slowly, determined to make each step count, just remember I am focusing on the moment at hand. Not what I have to do later, or in an hour or tomorrow. For the sake of my behind and other very sore body parts, I am focusing on having peace in my heart.
Peace out until next time.

As you know, it's against the law to pay American Citizens to vote. But did that really mean they had to take away our reward stickers? It felt like a 1st Grade disappointment today when I voted and I was told stickers weren't allowed anymore.
Then I was shown a paragraph stating why it's illegal to pay someone to vote.
Today I voted and it made a difference. I found my own "I voted" sticker and I'm posting it here for anyone else that voted and missed getting one.
Thank you for doing your part, exercising your right and voting today.

Are you working at your "retirement job"? If so, please message or call me. I would love to hear more. I am writing a feature about 55+ working jobs they plan to keep forever. Those who have no plans to retire such as Billy Richardson. Although he is retiring from a 30 year career, he has now started a lawn care business.

'It’s been good': Richardson retires from PSO after 30 years
Congratulations Billy!
After 30 years (29.75 years technically) of call-outs in the middle of the night, in the freezing cold or extreme heat, Bill “Billy” Richardson is calling it quits from PSO.

My pantry door is normally covered with Christmas Cards and photos sent from friends and family, but this year, we got a measly dozen cards. We all received plenty of holiday wishes through Facebook, text messages and email so I don't think the fact that there were fewer cards this year has anything to do with me.
Have Christmas Cards that actually come via snail mail become obsolete? I understand that times have changed, but I am wondering, how many of you were also disappointed with the amount of cards you received this year.
Personally, I plan to help keep our United States Post Office working hard and "keep those cards and letters coming."
Any thoughts Facebook friends?

Hello it's been a while since I've used this page, but I have started writing a book about the many different people from all over the country (and especially California) who move to Grand Lake, OK. Facebook seems to be a good place to find people, places and things.
I meet someone new about once a week and I they have such great stories. Friends and family keep encouraging me to write a book so here goes...
If you or someone you know moved to Grand Lake and want to participate and tell your story. Please message me or email me at [email protected].

I don't always share my column but this one means a lot to me.
I keep harping on this, but those of you who think we aren’t going to see anything come out of the Bassmaster Classic are wrong. The way I see it, we have two choices. We can either believe that and sleep each morning and go on with business as usual, or we can get up early, open our doors and turn…
