The Brook Arts Center is expanding its Board of Directors and actively seeking professionals with expertise in finance, law, and nonprofit development. If you’re a CPA, grant writer, financial strategist, or attorney with a passion for the arts and community impact, we’d love to hear from you.

As a board member, you’ll help guide our strategic direction, support fundraising and grant initiatives, and ensure the financial and legal integrity of our historic venue. Your leadership will help us grow sustainably and continue delivering vibrant cultural programming to our region.

We’re especially interested in candidates who:
- Have experience in nonprofit governance or fundraising
- Bring professional skills in accounting, grant writing, finance, or law
- Are enthusiastic about supporting live entertainment and cultural preservation
- Can commit to regular in-person or Zoom meetings and occasional event support

This is a volunteer position with meaningful influence and the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team of creatives, professionals, and civic leaders.

The Brook Arts Center is seeking dedicated volunteer security personnel to support our live events throughout the upcoming season. This role is ideal for individuals with prior or current experience in military, law enforcement, corrections, or professional security, who are passionate about community engagement and the performing arts. Current CPR certification is a good to have, as volunteers may be called upon to assist in medical emergencies or provide basic first aid during public events.

Role Overview:
Security Volunteers will help ensure a safe, welcoming, and professionally managed environment for guests, performers, and staff. Volunteers will be stationed at key access points and throughout the venue to assist with crowd flow, monitor guest behavior, and respond to potential issues.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor entrances, exits, and backstage areas
• Assist with guest flow and crowd management
• Support ID verification and bag checks when applicable
• Respond calmly and professionally to disruptive behavior or emergencies
• Communicate with venue staff regarding any concerns or incidents
• Maintain a visible, reassuring presence throughout the event

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior or current experience in venue security, military, law enforcement, corrections, or private security
• Strong situational awareness and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate conflict
• Professional demeanor and reliability
• Commitment to respectful, inclusive guest interactions

Schedule & Commitment:
• Shifts are event-based and typically range from 4–5 hours
• Volunteers may sign up for preferred dates based on availability
• Orientation will be provided prior to first shift

• A meal and light refreshments provided during shift
• Public recognition and appreciation for your service (if comfortable with that)
