Let me introduce you to Hammond, Indiana - the future home of the Chicago Bears...

🔹 Population approx. 76,000, located along the state line at the very tip of northwest Indiana, bordering Chicago on the west, Lake Michigan to the north, Gary to the east, and several other communities that touch Hammond’s border.

🔹 Located at the crossroads of both road and rails across the Midwest, with I-80/94, I-90 (Indiana Toll Road), and US 41 passing through the city.

🔹 The South Shore Line, the last interurban rail line in America, runs through Hammond north to Chicago, or south into southern Lake County or east to South Bend, Indiana.

🔹 Home of the Hammond Marina, the largest marina in the state of Indiana and home of 918 deep water slips and located only 12 nautical miles from Chicago.

🔹 Home of the Horseshoe Casino, located near the Hammond Marina on Lake Michigan

🔹Clean sandy beaches - Hammond has its own beach on Lake Michigan which is frequented by area residents through the summer season

🔹 Once the home of the Hammond Pros, one of the original charter football teams of the NFL, having played in Hammond in the 1920s.

🔹Bike trails - miles and miles of bike trails connect northwest Indiana to Chicago and the lakefront

🔹 Home of Purdue University Northwest, Purdue’s northern extension campus which serves nearly 10,000 full-time and part-time students and faculty members on a centralized campus that includes student residence halls and collegiate sports facilities.

🔹 Wolf Lake and Lake George - a fishing and wind sailing mecca for many, and also home to the annual Festival of the Lakes, Hammond’s annual summerfest held each July, and the future home of the Chicago Bears

The Sample Gates at Indiana University in Bloomington. For four years, I walked through these gates as a student, heading out to Kirkwood for a quick bite. They felt as grand then as they do now. For 20+ years, I have been capturing photos the Sample Gates and became a collegiate licensed photographer in 2018. My finished collection has now grown to over 500+ Bloomington campus and includes photos of every season (with thousands more offline).

Indiana small town breakdown: St John, Indiana, located just 45 minutes from downtown Chicago, is consistently ranked as one of the wealthiest and safest cities in Indiana, year after year. Known for being the home of the popular tourist attraction, The Shrine, thousands of people every year head to St John to walk in the path of Jesus, being guided by talking statues that tell His story. St John has had tremendous growth over the past two decades and is one of the fastest growing towns in Indiana, with a population now exploding to nearly 25,000, up from only 8,300 in 2000.

Bloomington, Indiana…my home away from home. Spent four years living here as an IU student and still can’t stop coming back. Years later, I became an official collegiate licensed photographer of IU campus photos and wrote a children’s book about IU called “Good Night, Indiana University”. Love love love this city and campus.

For more than 20 years, I’ve been capturing photos of every city and town in Indiana. Wabash, Indiana has many unique features in town including tons of history about the former Wabash and Erie canal that ran through downtown. In 1880, new carbon arc lights were strung to the courthouse to light the area at night, the first known US city to do that.

The jewel of Lake County sits on the square in Crown Point - the Grand Old Lady - the old Lake County Courthouse was built between 1878-1880 and has witnessed many marriages in it’s day.
