NASCAR legend Kyle Petty will be at the Hardy Civic Center at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6 as part of his 30th Annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America.

Come out to cheer on the riders, meet participating celebrities, purchase memorabilia and donate to help send deserving kids to camp at Victory Junction!

Founded in honor of Kyle’s son, Adam, Victory Junction’s year-round camp facility and adaptive programs give kids living with complex medical and physical needs opportunities to participate in activities, free from barriers they may face in their daily lives.

Forever a Rebel, Blake Medlock

Highland High School Dean of Students, Mr. Blake Medlock, passed away on December 3, 2025. Our thoughts and prayers are with Blake’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Blake was a Highland Rebel through and through. A proud graduate of HHS, he was a dedicated member of the Highland community—always willing to lend a hand, volunteer where needed, and support others in any way he could. He served the Highland School District with tremendous pride and unwavering commitment.

Blake was a cherished friend to many, a steady and positive influence on the students he served, and a constant encourager to the athletes he coached. His impact on our school and community is immeasurable, and his legacy will not be forgotten.

Service Arrangements
• Visitation: Sunday, December 7, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Hardy United Methodist Church
• Funeral Service: Monday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. at the A.L. Hutson Memorial Center on the campus of Highland School District
• Burial: Private

We are honored to host “Coach” Medlock’s family and friends on Monday for services. To support this, an early dismissal will be necessary. Dismissal times will be as follows:
Early Dismissal – Monday, December 8
• CES car riders and activity bus riders: 11:20 a.m.
• HHS and HMS bus riders: 11:40 a.m.
• HHS and HMS car riders: Dismissed after buses have departed
• CES bus dismissal: 12:00 p.m.
- Highland Preschool will close at 12:30 p.m.

Thank you for your understanding as we come together to honor a beloved member of Rebel Nation.
