BREAKING NEWS: The superintendent of Iowa's largest school district has been arrested by ICE. Fox News reports Des Moines Public School Supt. Ian Roberts was apprehended after he tried to flee agents. Roberts is from Guyana. He was appointed superintendent in 2023. How did the district not know he was an illegal?

THREATS DIRECTED AT THE SUN NEWSPAPER STAFF
“We stand up to intimidation. We’ll keep publishing The Sun,” wrote David Buffington, owner of The Sun of Hummelstown in response to threats being made to his newspapers staff.

Buffington said the newspaper received a threat just a few days ago, and it’s not the first incident. He extended gratitude to Chief Hess and the Hummelstown Police Department for responding to the threats and protecting freedom of the press.

Without elaborating on the details of the investigation, Buffington alluded to a divided nation. “Just go back to the 1960s and ‘70s. Things played out then just as they’re playing out now. Start with a rock star president (Kennedy/Obama). Get stuck in an unpopular war (Vietnam/Afghanistan). Veer into a culture clash (hippies/ LGBTQ). Elect a president who promises a return to traditional values (Nixon/ Trump) who then uses the tools of power (IRS/FCC) to punish the people he hates.”

Buffington (a self-proclaimed conservative) went on to quote Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz: “What [FCC Chairman Brendan Carr] said there is dangerous as hell … It might feel good right now to threaten Jimmy Kimmel, but when it is used to silence every conservative in America, we will regret it.”

And in conclusion Buffington quoted Ben Franklin: “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

An Upper Southampton Township Police Officer and a former township employee are facing felony charges after accusations of bid rigging and theft of township vehicles.

According to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Derek Gale, 47, and Brandon Valentino, 27, conspired to intentionally lower the value of decommissioned township vehicles for their benefit.
