We extend our deepest concern for everyone affected by the covid-19 pandemic, especially pilgrims, individuals, and businesses along the Camino de Santiago. It's hard to see the Camino family suffering, whether health-wise, economically, or disappointments over dream travels disrupted.

The Camino is closed until further notice, and a state of emergency has been declared in Spain. Concern is growing for how pilgrims could negatively impact local Camino communities by spreading the virus. If you are currently on the Camino, follow all travel requirements set out by Spain and local bodies.

The Camino has been there for centuries and will endure. Let's support each other in this troubling time, dreaming and planning for the day we can return unfettered to the Way. We're always here to support you in those plans. ♥️👣↦

Doing It Right: The Politics Of Hiking Trail Development In The Caucasus – The Transcaucasian...

"No – this is about giving something back to a part of the world that has been unusually generous to me. So it seems to me that if we do have an opportunity here, it’s to act as facilitators between players big and small. While the scouting and exploration still dominates my time, the best thing I can do beyond that is encourage the kind of cooperation that will help to ensure that both the people of the region and their future foreign guests genuinely all benefit from the new dynamic that improved access to the outdoors here will bring." - Tom Allen

When I decided last summer to build the Transcaucasian Trail, I had no idea just what kind of a political mess I was getting myself into. I don’t mean the regional geopolitics of the Caucasus, either. That’s actually pretty clear-cut. Some areas are off-limits, some borders are closed. Thankfully, n...

On the Pilgrimage Road of Hospitality With Abraham, Jesus and Saint James | CMW Journal

The story of Abraham begins with an imperative: L**h L**ha, meaning “Go” or “You go” or even “Go to yourself.” These words in Genesis set Abraham off on his journey from Harran to Canaan, an epic expedition whose story entered into the monotheistic faiths as an origin story embraced by over half of…

A hiking trail is a long-term project, so any successful hiking trail initiative must seek to empower local communities with the skills to maintain and continue to develop the trail and trail services. Local ownership is a crucial component of the long-term success of any hiking trail. We seek to come alongside local communities and support them in increasing their knowledge and capacity in the experiential and outdoor adventure tourism market.

Thank you David Landis for your support of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) on #GivingTuesday (https://bit.ly/SVBCoalition). We're lucky to have you and your family business Village to Village Press, LLC here in our community. Your work on the TransVirginia Bike Route has been tremendous and its impact will grow exponentially in the years to come. Thank you for all you do for our community!
Found the place on the Camino Frances where the cover photo of the guidebook was taken. Cool!
Ok. This is crunch time. My caminho is now in your hands! Having walked various Camino routes and bits of others I have always complained (to myself) about the maps in the guide books. Anything off piste is not marked. Rucksack packed. 5.3kgs. How much? Need to lose some weight. Then I double checked the guide books. Your maps show the villages off the route. When I get to a road junction I should be able to confirm where I am. My pack is now under 5kgs. Guess how many guide books I am carrying!! And which one. P.S. a few other extras won't be coming with me. I don't do extra weight gladly.
Introducing Camino Cyclist, and the start of my trip this week! Check back here to follow the journey, and please help spread the word by sharing with others! Thanks to Hiking the Camino de Santiago, Shenandoah Bicycle Company, The Official Intergalactic Surly Regional HQ, Village to Village Press and many more!
