Aw snap! It's gettin to be that time ya'll! Don't forget Harrisonburg Rock Lotto sign-ups and the drawing-of-the-bands, this Sunday, Jan. 14th at The Golden Pony - VA!

https://www.facebook.com/events/1756493301320885/?ti=cl

To help ensure lotto band success this year, we are absolutely STOKED to to be partnering to offer participating bands studio rehearsals and backline at Hotel Appalachia!!

Hear that!? I just said FREE STUDIO REHEARSALS.

Come sign up on Sunday for more details!

Rock Lotto's new to you? That's okay, everyone's welcome! All you need is yourself and a willingness to be thrown by random drawing into a musical association of relative strangers, to prepare a set of original music, practice for several weeks, and then perform your set with your band at a concert on March 18th & 19th to benefit MACROCK.

You don't have to be a master of any instruments, and trying new things is ABSOLUTELY encouraged. It's kind of what makes Harrisonburg's Rock Lotto different (better) than all the other rock lotto's . . .

GREAT Article in The Breeze about Hotel Appalachia. Thanks Drew Cowen.

Hotel Appalachia started because the members of the local bluegrass band Shenandoah Alley needed a space to record their music and other side projects.

Open House!

On Friday, there was a full moon, a lunar eclipse, a comet, and someone smashed a 2016 corolla into our building.

Also, our Grand Opening Open-House! was a grand success! We very literally could not have done it without the INCREDIBLE support of our families, friends and this AWESOME community.

Brad Shy spent countless hours custom-designing and hand-crafting our stunning, one-of-a-kind console desks, floor-rack, and rolling workstations. He's also our go-to for business and adulthood advice. His assistance in the build has been absolutely priceless.

Lee Stover graciously gave us use of his shop and expertise to build our sound panels. His instincts and education are the heart of their design. He and Molly Boland-Stover spent hours helping us sealer-sand their every inch.

Kris Shy lended her editing and composition skills towards the elegant completion of our written materials.

Angie Auville has been with us every step of the way. When we're lucky she fuels us with her homemade dinners, and she very helpfully and gently tells us what the world of the sane will think about our crazy ideas. She also gets us to clean when we need to.

Peggy Shy has always rivaled Andrew Thomas Johnson for the title of biggest fan, but she's also our event planner. She personally attended to the all details and kept us looking professional. And what a cake! Drew also provided his drumset for the evening.

Elizabeth Stover and The Pastry Cher donated an UNREAL spread of sweet and savory pastries and fresh baked bread.

Sally and Phil Boucher housed the very earliest iteration of our business. They gave us a place to dream the dream that led us here, and Tim Boucher shared his home with us.

Jacque Cramer kept the revenue man at bay, on multiple occasions. Robert Cramer is our guru in life and in Bluegrass.

Jesse Stover loosely proposed the whole idea, 15 years ago. He and Jason Misterka, Mike Southard and all the guys at Southard Audio have been our brain trust and our inspiration.

Sarah Hade designed our signs, and Alan Fary contructed them. Elwood Trip Madison III painted our beautiful studio watercolor. Ben Rellick designed the graphics that became our rack card.

Eric Bange poured beers in a tuxedo, and in so doing elevated the whole affair to a level of class I don't think even we could have anticipated.

Paul Somers and The Golden Pony - VA have been our bedrock professionally since before we even started this venture, and it is literally impossible for us to even address in words what his contributions have meant to us, personally and as business people. He very generously donated refreshments, and has fallen into the role of unofficial band photojournalist and Indie-Business-Sage, to our tremendous, undeserved good-fortune. We can't wait to see his shots. Love you, fam.

Three Notch'd Brewing Co. Harrisonburg Taproom and Pale Fire Brewing Company both donated kegs and have kept some of our members solvent with side gigs over the last two years. The kegs even kicked at the perfect moment.

The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce hosted our Ribbon Cutting. Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance gave us some much needed guidance.

Michael Jaffee from Matchbox Realty & Management Services Inc. was conveniently on hand already when the Toyota smashed the front corner of the building. It's somehow not a surprise that he would be; he's quick. He and everyone else at Matchbox have been nothing but accessible, responsive and encouraging.

Our awesome neighbors, Fairfield Center, weren't too scathed in the accident, fortunately -- a broken window and a mess. The car didn't fare as well. A big thanks to them for being great always, and for lending their folding tables to the occasion.

Members Emeritus Michael Alan Stover and Aaron Moss, thanks for making the trip!

And Eric from staples. Love that guy.

THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH.

All of you. We love you. We're humbled by your contribution, and endeavor to do our best by it. Thank you.

Had an amazing time last night working on new songs for Strong Water's latest project at Hotel Appalachia in Harrisonburg with my good friend and gracious Engineer/Producer Chad Altenberger!
Cool idea from Harrisonburg upstarts. Writers submit songs and users vote on which of it gets developed into a band.

You can vote on a project right now.
We had a great time in your shining new studio. What a pleasure working with such generous gentlemen.
New Hot S**t! Demos! Take the candy from the nice man in the van! Share!
