Roxy Rush is my wife’s snowmobile. A 2011 Polaris RUSH 600. It has become the back up #3, or the sled my oldest will ride.
It’s nearing 7K miles…

Last season, it wanted to die out once it was warmed up, and the cluster would start bugging out…

After consulting someone with great snowmobile knowledge, and asking AI, the probable cause was diagnosed…

Either the stator or the voltage regulator…

Luckily, this time it was the voltage regulator!

Glad Roxy’s back in biz and READY TO RIP!
She’s still a fun little sled to ride!!! 🤘

So pumped winter is back in Wisconsin!!! 😎

This may be the earliest I have ever ridden in Wisconsin. 🤔 December 10th, 2022. They had enough snow in northern Iron County to open. Southern Iron remained closed.

It was just me that day. I trailered up to Cary Mine BP west of Hurley. It was a beautiful, snowy day!! I followed Corridor Trail 2 West up to Saxon Harbor. Quite a sight, it was my first time making that run.

On the way back down I ran 77 to 8 to Hog’s Back Road. I decided to run south on 13, to Yukon Fifty-One for dinner. An Establishment that RIPS for sure!

I ran up 13 past Willys Still. Another Establishment that RIPS! I was heading back north on 15, in the direction of my rig in Gile.

At the first intersection my Viper DIED and wouldn’t start again. At the same time a father-son duo from Chippewa County pulled up along side of me, asking where I was headed. I replied nowhere since my sled wasn’t starting.

Like good snowmobilers do, they offered to help. The father hooked up his tow strap and the son led us off. I told them I needed to get north to the Cary Mine BP, but instead they towed me to the White Thunder Riders club shed. I reiterated where I needed to get to, so the son told me he would get me there on the back of his sled.

I put one arm on his waist and one on his shoulder, but he told me hold onto him tight! 😂 I realized why when he began to BRAAP his 850 Ski Doo up the trail while I held on for dear life!

They took me up to Silver Street, and I told them I still needed to get west a bit. So off we went BRAAPING! My shield on my helmet fogged up real bad and I could no longer see. I just hoped this fella would get me there safely!!

They did get me to my rig, and I thanked them a ton before they BRAAPED of back toward Hurley. I retrieved the Viper from the club shed, and was safely on my way… Dave

It was December 20th, 2024. Some areas of southeastern Wisconsin had just received close to a foot of snow!!

Leaving work Friday evening, we didn’t figure anyone would be willing to open their trails, due to its dry consistency. We figured we would ride the sleds around the yard a bit…

Opening our Facebook app upon arriving home, we received news that Zone 2 in Dodge County would be opening their trails!! It wasn’t going to be pretty and it definitely wasn’t going to last long…

It became the perfect opportunity to get the girls out riding for a day! Our oldest had just earned her snowmobile certification in 2023, while being unable to ride during our SHORT 2024 Snowmobile Season.

This would be her first time riding solo! She was educated on all possible riding situations as we trailered up to Lomira, Wisconsin. After launching at the gas station east of 41, we began our ride…

She rode slow and began to accumulate experience. After explaining how to maintain control, while crossing a bridge by keeping a ski in the snow. She met her first test. After crossing over Highway 41, we looked back to find her scraping down the center of the road!

We lifted the back of the sled to steer her back on track, then she proceeded to dip deep into the ditch! After learning two key lessons, we were back on the trail…

We followed Corridor Trail 7 south to Theresa, then moved west toward Mayville. We rode north to Knowles for a lunch break at the Feedmill. She had a bit of practice with turning around and parking!

Afterwards we rode back east towards Lomira. We found Corridor 7 again, and made our way back to our vehicle and trailer. She managed the Highway 41 bridge crossing much better this time! Living is Learning!!

As we figured, the trails were super thin! Some spots fully covered, some fields not good at all. Regardless we thank the Dodge County clubs in Zone 2, for opening their snowmobile trails for a few days. Allowing us to have this experience, and allowing riders enjoy a ride if they so choose.

Our oldest had her first ride under her belt, and gained much needed experience! She was ready to ride again, and continue to learn and enjoy snowmobiling! Continuing to create great memories via the sport we all LOVE!!! -Dave Nitzsche
