Delta Air Lines has launched its seasonal Accra–Atlanta service at Kotoka International Airport.

The inaugural event was attended by the Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, and GTA Board Member Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah.

The new route is expected to strengthen travel links between Ghana and the United States, broaden access for the diaspora, and support increased arrivals ahead of the December travel season and other major events.

The GTA says it will continue to back initiatives that expand Ghana’s international reach, attract more visitors, and contribute to the growth of the country’s tourism sector.

A tragic stampede at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday morning claimed six lives and left several others injured during the ongoing Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.

The incident occurred amid a massive turnout of applicants, as about 60,000 people reportedly applied for enlistment in the 2025 exercise.

The large crowd, coupled with intense jostling at entry points, led to chaos, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.

Family members of the deceased are yet to be officially notified as authorities work to confirm their identities.

The Ghana Armed Forces has suspended the nationwide recruitment to allow for investigations.
