Oheneyere Akua Durowaa, the 103-year-old widow of the late Asantehene Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, has been honoured by St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Ashtown, Kumasi.

The church recognised her as its only surviving founding member during its 95th anniversary celebration on 26 July 2026.

Oheneyere Akua Durowaa, also known as Nana Agnes Addo Kufuor, is the elder sister of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled in her honour, recognising her longstanding connection with the church.

Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ghana's Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commissioned five envoys to represent Ghana in Sierra Leone, Norway, Kuwait, Nigeria and Niger.

The unusual monument is not an unfinished work of art, but the remains of an original bronze statue that carries a story dating back to Ghana’s early years of independence and the political upheavals that followed.

The statue was created by Italian sculptor Nicola Cataudella and erected in front of Ghana’s Old Parliament House in Accra in 1958.
