Food Fight still has a bunch of Food Fights to post from last month’s festival run!

This one is a classic - the world-famous UNICO Porchetta Sandwich. national.bakery.scranton

Porchetta has deep roots in central Italy, where pork is traditionally seasoned with herbs like rosemary, garlic and fennel, then slow-roasted until it’s tender inside with that crispy, flavorful exterior.

Italian immigrants brought those traditions with them to America, and porchetta became a staple at Italian festivals, church picnics and community celebrations and especially right here in Pennsylvania.

So where did porchetta actually come from, and how did it become such a big part of Italian-American festival culture?

Right NEPA Pizza Review?!

What is double crusted white pizza?! Where did it come from? Who was the very first person that ever made it?! That is a Food Fight we may never know the origins of. I have to believe it started right here in the Pizza capital of the world - Old Forge.

Maybe right here at Ghigiarelli's Restaurant on the iconic Main Street.
