πŸ“œ OPEN YOUR BIBLE TO REVELATION 18 TONIGHT.

Today the US Navy blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices surged. Global shipping routes are frozen. The IMF is revising its world economic forecast downward. Sailors, sea captains, and merchants are standing far off β€” watching.

John wrote this on the island of Patmos roughly 2,000 years ago:

"In one hour such great wealth has been ruined! Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off." β€” Revelation 18:17 (NIV)

He is describing the fall of Babylon β€” the great commercial empire of the last days. And the detail that stops you in your tracks is this: it happens in ONE HOUR. Not a decade. Not a war. One hour.

The ancient world knew the sea lanes were everything. Control the sea, control the wealth of nations. John saw a moment when that entire system β€” ships, merchants, sea captains, global trade β€” collapses with breathtaking speed. Those who grew rich from it stand at a distance, weeping, watching it burn.

Today, for the first time in modern history, the world's most important shipping corridor was placed under a military blockade. Global markets are reacting in real time.

We are not saying this IS Revelation 18. We are saying: read Revelation 18 tonight and tell us it doesn't feel closer than it did a year ago.

Read the whole chapter slowly. Verse 4 especially: "Come out of her, my people."

🚨 TODAY β€” MONDAY, APRIL 13 β€” the US Navy begins its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

As of 10am ET, no ships enter or exit Iranian ports without clearance from the US fleet. Oil is already above $96 a barrel. The IMF is downgrading its forecast for the entire global economy. The world's most critical shipping lane β€” 20% of the world's oil supply β€” is now under military control.

Over 2,600 years ago, a minor prophet named Nahum looked at the military superpower of his day and wrote something that sounds like today's headlines:

"The shields of the soldiers are red; the warriors are clad in scarlet. The metal on the chariots flashes on the day they are made ready." β€” Nahum 2:3 (NIV)

The nations have always prepared for war. They always will. But Nahum wrote his book for one reason β€” to show that no military power, no matter how fearsome, operates outside the knowledge and sovereignty of God.

The warships positioning in the Strait this morning did not catch God off guard. He is not in a situation room trying to figure out what to do next. He is still seated on His throne, and not one barrel of oil, not one destroyer, not one missile moves without His permission.

Be watchful. Be anchored. Not afraid.

HE FORETOLD IT ALL β€” Isaiah 48:3

Tonight, open your Bible to Isaiah 48.

God is speaking directly to Israel β€” and through them, to us β€” about something He wants them to understand about His nature. He doesn't just respond to history. He announces it.

"I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass." β€” Isaiah 48:3

Suddenly I acted. Not slowly, not after a long negotiation, not after the right diplomatic conditions were met. Suddenly. When He moves, it is decisive. When the moment arrives, it has already been declared.

Think about what we watched this week. Peace talks in Islamabad, brokered by Pakistan, between the United States and Iran β€” two nations whose tension fills the prophetic landscape of Scripture. Ancient Persia. The Euphrates corridor. The kings of the East. These are not abstract biblical symbols. They are geography. They are nations with navies and nuclear programs and flags on negotiating tables.

God said: I announced it. I made it known. Then I acted.

He did not announce it last week in a Truth Social post. He announced it through prophets who wrote on scrolls in ancient cities, under moonlight, thousands of years before any of us were born.

The talks failed today. But the Word of the Lord does not fail. The same God who foretold the former things is still speaking β€” and still acting.

MAN PLANS, GOD REIGNS β€” Proverbs 19:21

Twenty-one hours. Two delegations. One question that couldn't get answered.

JD Vance left Islamabad this morning with no deal. Iran refused to accept the terms. The Strait of Hormuz stays closed. The talks are over β€” for now.

It is tempting, watching all of this, to feel like the world is spinning out of control. Nations posturing. Diplomats flying. Oil tankers sitting empty in the Gulf. And for what?

There is a verse that cuts through all the noise today, and it is so simple it almost feels too plain for such a complicated moment: "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." β€” Proverbs 19:21

Not some plans. Not most plans. Many plans. The ones that fill conference rooms and briefing books and diplomatic cables. The ones negotiated over fourteen rounds of talks. The ones presented as final offers.

And above every one of them: the LORD's purpose. Not competing with them. Not surprised by them. Prevailing over them.

This is a good Sunday morning verse. On the day we gather to worship the One whose purposes cannot be thwarted by failed talks, or closed straits, or empty handshakes.

What does your heart need to hand over to God's sovereignty this morning? Drop it in the comments β€” we'll pray together.

TRUE PEACE COMES β€” Micah 4:3

Tonight, open your Bible to Micah chapter 4.

It begins with a vision so stunning, so specific, that Isaiah 2 records nearly the same words β€” as if God wanted to make sure we didn't miss it.

"He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore." β€” Micah 4:3

Islamabad today. Geneva before that. Every summit table in every generation has promised some version of this. And every one has fallen short β€” because the Judge described in this verse is not a diplomat. He is not a superpower. He is the Lord Himself, reigning from Zion.

Notice what Micah says comes before the swords become plowshares: *He will judge.* Not negotiate. Not compromise. Not broker a fragile two-week ceasefire. The peace Micah describes flows from a verdict β€” from the righteous rule of the One who alone can settle what no summit ever has.

We are not watching the world inch toward Micah 4. We are watching the world exhaust every other option first.

But the chapter does not end in darkness. It ends with each person sitting under their own vine and their own fig tree β€” and no one making them afraid.

That day is coming. It is not a dream. It is a promise with a specific Author.

PRINCES TO NOTHING β€” Isaiah 40:23

JD Vance touched down in Islamabad this morning. The cameras are rolling, the delegations are assembled, and the world is watching. And yet β€” Iran has already signaled the talks are "on hold until preconditions are met."

Negotiations. Ultimatums. Fragile ceasefires. Stalled preconditions.

This is what the world calls peace-making. And every generation has watched these same tables set β€” and watched them collapse.

Isaiah 40:23 does not say God watches from a distance and hopes the diplomats get it right. It says He *brings princes to naught*. He *reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.* Not with cruelty β€” but with the unstoppable weight of His sovereignty. The plans of men are real. Their consequences are real. But the outcome belongs to the Lord.

While the world holds its breath over Islamabad, we hold to something steadier: the One who was not elected to His throne and cannot be voted out of it.

WATERS DRIED UP β€” Revelation 16:12

Open your Bible tonight to Revelation 16, verse 12.

"The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East."

For most of church history, this verse was preached as a distant, metaphorical future. Tonight it reads like a news ticker.

The Strait of Hormuz β€” the narrow waterway through which 20% of the world's oil flows β€” has been all but shut for weeks. The "waters" of the Persian Gulf region have been choked off. The UAE is publicly demanding unrestricted passage. China and Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution to protect navigation in the strait. The kings of the East are watching every move being made in Islamabad tonight.

The Euphrates runs through modern-day Iraq and Syria β€” the same corridor where US diplomats were ambushed last week, where Iranian-backed militias are active, where ancient Babylon once stood. The bowl judgments in Revelation 16 are not random catastrophes. They follow a geography. They follow a sequence.

We are not here to set dates or claim certainty. But we are called to watch, to pray, and to know the season.

The waters are drying up. The way is being prepared.

THE TABLE LIES β€” Daniel 11:27

Today, US and Iranian delegations sit down in Islamabad, Pakistan for peace talks brokered by Prime Minister Sharif. The ceasefire is two days old. Lebanon is still burning. Iran's Supreme National Security Council says its "hands remain on the trigger."

And 2,600 years ago, the prophet Daniel saw this moment.

"Both kings, with their hearts bent on evil, will sit at the same table and lie to each other, but to no avail, because an end will still come at the appointed time."
β€” Daniel 11:27

Diplomats will negotiate. Leaders will shake hands. Statements will be issued. And none of it will ultimately override what God has already appointed.

This is not cynicism β€” it is faith. Faith that history is not spinning out of control, but moving precisely toward a conclusion that was written long before any of these men were born. The table in Islamabad matters. But the throne in heaven matters infinitely more.

I WILL MAKE MYSELF KNOWN β€” Ezekiel 38:23

Tonight, open your Bible to Ezekiel 38. Read it slowly.

Written 2,600 years ago, this chapter describes a moment the prophet could barely put into words β€” a time when the nations of the earth would gather, when the Middle East would become the focal point of world history, when every eye would be fixed on the ancient lands of Scripture.

And in the center of it all, God makes a declaration that is not a prediction but a promise:

"And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD." β€” Ezekiel 38:23

Today, the entire world is watching the Middle East. Diplomats from the US, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt are all maneuvering around a geography that God identified thousands of years before any of these nations existed in their current form.

Ezekiel 38 describes an alignment of nations, a moment of divine exposure β€” not because God loses control, but because He reveals Himself through the very events that seem most chaotic to us.

Note the purpose: "Then they will know that I am the LORD." This is not judgment for its own sake. This is revelation. God is making Himself known to a world that has largely forgotten Him.

The ceasefire signed this week may hold. It may fracture. The Islamabad talks may succeed or collapse. But none of that changes the arc of what Ezekiel saw.

God will be exalted. The nations will know.

What do you see in Ezekiel 38 that speaks to our current moment? Drop your thoughts below.
