Update (from Jen Noel) on the 9/25/25 Kootenai County Commissioners’ hearing on Data Centers:

The Commissioners voted to Amend the Ordinance and add that no Data Centers can be built on the aquifer so that means the Data Center won’t have suitable land to build on outside of the aquifer. The rest of the land is very mountainous.

Commissioner Duncan stated that once they make the necessary changes to their Comprehensive Plan the Commissioners can then ban the Data Centers all together.

Voters in Kootenai County are waking up to the ugly truth: the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee is not serving the people, it’s serving power, money, and Brent Regan’s personal agenda.

Their so-called “rating and vetting” process is nothing more than political theater. It does not include all candidates, it fails to compare qualifications, and the committees themselves lack the expertise to ask meaningful questions. In reality, it’s a smoke-and-mirrors operation designed to rubber-stamp pre-selected candidates and mislead voters into believing they’ve been vetted for conservative values. The outcome? A monopoly where control is concentrated in the hands of a few big donors and a chairman who is more interested in influence and power than in true representation.

I’m sharing this piece by Dan Sheckler because it shines light on exactly how the KCRCC operates behind closed doors. What he describes is the same corruption and control I’ve been calling out since day one.

When a political committee turns into a monopoly, the voice of the people is silenced. What we’re seeing with the KCRCC isn’t just a few bad decisions or a broken process, it’s a rigged system. Behind closed doors, a handful of insiders control who gets vetted, who gets recommended, and ultimately, who gets elected. That isn’t representation, it’s manipulation.

The secrecy, the NDAs, the punishment for anyone who speaks out, all of it points to a culture that thrives on control, not accountability. And the results according to Sheckler are plain: dysfunction at North Idaho College, reckless decisions that hurt our schools, and candidates “installed” by party bosses instead of chosen by the people.

This isn’t a system that needs minor reform. It’s one that has to be completely leveled and rebuilt from the ground up. If voters want leaders who answer to them, not to Brent Regan and his machine, then the KCRCC monopoly must end.

Sheriff Bob Norris is currently involved in one lawsuit, two Tort claims totaling $7.5 million, and one criminal proceeding. Is this political maneuvering, or the natural consequence of a sheriff colliding with the law?

The Cataldo Town Hall: Origin of the Defamation Lawsuit

At an April 2024 candidates’ forum in Cataldo, Norris allegedly accused a photographer of being obsessed with child po*******hy and performing sexual acts. Multiple affidavits back up the plaintiff’s claims.

Sheriff Norris’s Response: Denial and Counterclaims

Norris initially dismissed the allegations as a hoax, offering a $10,000 reward for video evidence—despite his own policy prohibiting videography at events.

The Tort Process and the First Dismissal

The lawsuit was dismissed on a bond technicality, not the merits. Judge Lamont Berecz confirmed the plaintiff’s right to re-file without requiring a new tort claim.

Procedural Delays and Missed Deadlines

Despite judicial instructions, Norris’s legal team failed to file dismissal paperwork. When the lawsuit was re-filed in August, they missed the 21-day deadline by 14 days.
