I went to Missouri Star Quilt Company and apparently blacked out in the stores because I kept pulling things out of my bag like… “oh yeah, I bought that too.” 😂

But honestly, how could I not?!

Fabric, patterns, adorable notions, a Chuck sticker, scissors, and a few future tutorial projects came home with me. 🧵

The best part of the whole trip was getting to teach, meet so many wonderful sewists, and be surrounded by people who love this craft as much as I do.

Now I need your help…

What should I make first:
👜 a bag?
👗 a skirt?
🧵 a quilt?

Also please tell me I’m not the only person who goes into a quilt shop and temporarily forgets they already own fabric. 😂 Quilting Deals - Missouri Star Quilt Co

I have TWO brand new digital patterns available! 🎉✂️

The first is my Envelope Pillowcase Pattern — and yes, we are getting fancy and learning French seams. Ooh la la. 😂

Except here’s the secret… they really aren’t that fancy or difficult. They just make your project look beautifully finished, and I’ll walk you through the whole process.

This is such a fun project because you can change your pillows out for holidays, seasons, or honestly just because you found cute fabric and needed an excuse to buy it. (We’ve all been there. 👀)

The second pattern is my Sewing Journal Cover Pattern!

Your sewing projects deserve to be remembered. Your notes, fabric choices, little stories, lessons learned — all of it. One day those pages become more than measurements… they become memories. ❤️

The cover pattern includes a pen holder and an elastic/button closure. Plus I included measurements for both my Sewing Journal AND a regular composition notebook.

Both patterns are instant PDF downloads, so you can grab them and start sewing right away.

Thank you all so much for continuing to support my patterns and my little sewing business. It means more than you know. 🧵❤️

Happy sewing!

Today we're opening some very special happy mail from my amazing sewing community!

I came home from traveling to find my PO box filled with the sweetest handmade gifts, thoughtful letters, sewing surprises, and one very special goldfinch-inspired package in memory of my grandma.

This video is a reminder that sewists and quilters truly understand the heart behind giving. Thank you for creating such a kind, encouraging sewing community... every note, card, and gift means more than you know.

Okay, love you, bye!

Happy National Sewing Machine Day! 🧵✨

Today we celebrate the real MVPs of our sewing rooms… the machines that bring all of our wild ideas to life. 😂

Whether you sew on a brand new machine with every fancy button imaginable, a beginner machine you bought on sale, your grandma’s vintage machine, or the same trusty machine you’ve had for 30 years… it is special. ❤️

A sewing machine’s value isn’t found in the price tag. It’s found in the quilts made, the clothes repaired, the gifts created, the memories stitched, and the joy it brings you.

Every machine has a story… and I want to see yours!

Drop a picture of your sewing machine in the comments and tell us a little about it. 👇🧵

How long have you had it? Is there a story behind it? Was it passed down to you? Did you save up for it? Did you buy it because it was pink and pretty? (No judgment here 😂)

Let’s fill these comments with beautiful machines today. ❤️

I try to keep work and personal separate here on socials… but this week I hit a milestone in my career as a sewing educator, and honestly, I’m just really proud. ❤️

Back in March, Missouri Star Quilt Company reached out and asked if I would be interested in teaching at Missouri Star Academy this June.

And listen… when the mothership calls, the only acceptable answer is YES. 😂✂️

So they flew me out to Hamilton, Missouri, and for the last two days I have been teaching classes, doing meet and greets, connecting with so many incredible people in the sewing industry, and spending time with sewists who traveled from all over the country to be part of this amazing event.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one of the biggest sewing companies in the country would look at what I’m doing and say, “We want you to come teach here.”

Me? Really?

But somehow… here we are. ❤️

And then, as if that wasn’t already surreal enough, several of my students showed up wearing shirts from my merch line. Seeing something that started as just a little idea in my head being worn by real people who believe in what I’m building… I don’t even have words for that.

I also had the opportunity to teach a class featuring my self-published sewing journal and the book cover pattern I designed to go along with it.

There are moments in life where you stop and realize that all of those late nights, all of the risks, all of the times you wondered “is anyone even going to care about this?”… they were building something.

And this week I got to see that something in real life.

My heart is just incredibly grateful for every opportunity that has come my way over the last few years. It has been a lot of work — but it’s the kind of work that doesn’t feel like work because you know deep down you’re doing exactly what you were meant to do.

More than anything, I’m grateful that even though it took me a little while to find it, I found my purpose.

Sewing isn’t just what I do… it’s who I am.

And this week was one of those beautiful reminders that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. ❤️✂️

I made an entire quilt with only THREE yards of fabric. 🤯✂️

I know… I didn’t believe it either. 😂

When I saw these bright pink and orange fabrics (because obviously 🩷🧡), I knew I needed a pattern that would let that floral fabric have its moment. This Pinwheel Plus One quilt was PERFECT.

And before you say “Chelsea, those pinwheels look hard…” I promise you — they are just half square triangles! We take it one step at a time, and suddenly you have a quilt that looks way more complicated than it actually is.

My favorite kind of sewing project. 😂

The full sew along tutorial is up now on YouTube, so grab your favorite 3-yard bundle and come sew with me!

Sewing machine needle sizes finally explained. 🙌✂️

If you’ve ever looked at a pack of needles and thought “why does my sewing hobby suddenly require math?” 😂 you are not alone.

70/10, 80/12, 90/14… those numbers actually tell you the size of your needle and choosing the right one can make a HUGE difference in how your machine sews.

What sewing needle questions do you have?
