Yesterday was more than bad ass, thanks to Dan at Soundmine for holding a killer hybrid mixing class! I will for sure have to make more trips out there for some tracking etc. Great place with great equipment and encouraging people!

I’m gonna have to hook up the old Apple tower and pull some of this stuff off of there. Looking at old videos in my phone I totally forgot about these riffs lol!

When Rob Honablue tells you to record the cymbals with close mics and there is no need to use overheads and you listen good things tend to happen lol! It also tends to help using the mics he recommended. This is why I always keep myself open to new ideas everyone does things differently but the more info and tools you have the more you can apply them and make your own.

Brought Kae to the studio after school she stayed in the live room and played the piano for a good half an hour! No forcing her to play she just chose to keep noodling. Seeing her try to figure it out and playing by ear made me realize ok it’s time she needs some lessons and most likely will kick some ass! Maybe she will learn the theory and daddy will be the engineer to her future awesomeness. Gotta get her on the equipment side as well and working the studio equipment! Girl power in music hell yeah!
