After more than five decades of competition at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, trailblazing driver Donna Gunther has announced that this Saturday, June 20th, will be her final race. Gunther, a beloved icon in the Las Vegas short-track racing community, has made the difficult decision to hang up her helmet and retire.

Driving her signature #88 car, Gunther has been a consistent competitor in divisions including NASCAR 602 Modifieds and Pro Late Models, Street Stocks & Legends. She began racing in the era of Craig Road Speedway and has been a fixture at The Bullring for decades, competing against drivers decades her junior while earning respect for her skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance.
A true pioneer for women in motorsports, Donna Gunther has inspired generations of female racers in a sport historically dominated by men. Her niece, Cheyanne Schindler, has also competed at The Bullring, continuing the family racing legacy alongside relatives like Wayne Jacks. Gunther is known not only for her on-track battles but for her mentoring, shop support, and positive presence in the pits.

“Racing has been a huge part of my life for over 50 years,” Gunther reflected. “The Bullring has been my home track, and I’m grateful for every lap, every friend, and every memory I’ve made here. It’s time to step away, but I’ll always carry this passion with me.”

The 2026 regular season concludes on Saturday, June 20th, with the exciting NASCAR Night of Fire Championship Finale featuring fireworks and all divisions crowning their champions. Fans, fellow competitors, family, and the racing community are encouraged to come out and celebrate Donna Gunther’s remarkable career during her farewell race.
