Plainfield, Brownsburg, and Decatur Township Fire Departments were dispatched to the I-70 overpass at IN-39 in Clayton for a report of a tanker truck that had tipped over onto its side at 3:55pm this afternoon.

Crews were also dispatched for a large spill from the tanker. Injuries are unknown at this time.

🚨 TWO SEMIS CRASH ON WESTBOUND I-70 NEAR PLAINFIELD REST AREA

Around 4:20 PM, Plainfield Fire crews were dispatched to a reported two semi accident on westbound I-70 near mile marker 64, close to the Plainfield Rest Area.

Westbound I-70 is now backed up for miles in the area. Drivers should expect significant delays while crews work at the scene.

Employee Shot in Hand at Range USA on Country Club Road

Just after noon today, Wayne Township Fire and IMPD were dispatched to Range USA at 120 Country Club Road for a report of a person shot.

An employee was reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand but was awake and breathing. The incident appears to have been accidental at this time.

🚧 Township Line Road Roundabout Delayed

The Town of Plainfield has announced that the new roundabout at Township Line Road and Shady Lane will not open to traffic ahead of Labor Day weekend as originally anticipated.

Additional work is needed before the intersection can open.

The intersection is now expected to open to traffic the week of September 21.

A Hendricks County man was sentenced today in Hendricks Superior Court in connection with a child molesting case.

Douglas Russo was arrested in 2024 and originally faced three counts of child molesting. After multiple delays in the case, Russo pleaded guilty this July to two Level 4 felony counts.

The plea agreement called for 12 years in prison, according to information shared by Angela Ganote in a Facebook post. The court record has not been updated yet with the sentence from today's hearing, so I can't confirm yet if the judge actually gave him the full 12 years.

Russo was booked into the Hendricks County Jail following today's sentencing.

UPDATE: The court record has been updated. Russo was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 8 years of probation. The original Level 1 felony charge was dismissed.

🍍 Avon Gets Its First Taste of Mo’ Bettahs With Soft Opening

Avon got its first taste of Mo’ Bettahs today as the new restaurant held its “Avon Friends & ‘Ohana” event, offering free food to guests during its soft opening.

The new restaurant at 8894 E US 36 in Avon, near Costco, brings Hawaiian-style food to Hendricks County and offers a new dining option for the area.

If you missed out today, there’s another chance to try it for free tomorrow. Mo’ Bettahs will be offering free food to guests again from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

The restaurant will officially open to the public on Monday, August 31.

Wanted felon arrested in Hendricks County after U.S. Marshals investigation

🚨 U.S Marshalls Fugative Captured in Hendricks County🚨

I was hearing some chatter about U.S. Marshal activity yesterday, but never heard anything about an operation.

I now see that 55 year old Max Austin was arrested by the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office after being wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for escape since October 15, 2024.

Austin was wanted out of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and was last seen in Saginaw, Michigan. He was also listed under the aliases John Fulton and Roger Austin.

Austin was booked here in Hendricks County on 8 felony charges, including unlawful possession of a fi***rm by a serious violent felon and possession of methamphetamine, along with theft, unlawful carrying of a handgun, identity deception and other drug related charges.

Austin is currently being held in the Hendricks County Jail on a U.S. Marshal hold.

🚨 US-36 WESTBOUND SHUT DOWN IN AVON

An overturned semi at US-36 and Ronald Reagan Parkway has the westbound lanes of US-36 shut down in Avon.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. this afternoon, and crews remain on scene working to clear the roadway.

Drivers should avoid the area and expect delays while the scene is cleared.

7:45pm | I’ve received additional information from law enforcement regarding the shots fired incident on I-74.

The incident was reportedly a road rage situation, with both parties allegedly fired shots at each other while traveling on I-74, near the Hendricks County line.

Pittsboro Police located one of the involved trucks and made the initial stop, with Brownsburg Police assisting. The other involved party was later located somewhere in Brownsburg off the interstate and was reportedly uncooperative. The driver of the truck was reportedly cooperative.

Both parties reportedly had dash cameras in their vehicles. Officers searched along I-74 in the area where the shooting was reported to have occurred but did not locate any shell casings.

Indiana State Police responded and took over the investigation.

🚨 Panic Erupts During Decatur Central vs. Avon Football Game in Indianapolis

Panic erupted among spectators near the end of Friday night’s Decatur Central High School vs. Avon High School football game in Indianapolis, as a large law enforcement presence responded following reports of a possible weapon.

Initial reports indicated that someone may have had a fi***rm, prompting a significant police response at the game.

MSD Decatur Township later clarified that no weapon was found and no shots were fired.

According to the school district, the incident involved an isolated medical emergency involving a spectator. No injuries beyond the medical emergency have been reported.
