A Summer Night That Sang With Purpose
On Saturday, August 2nd, Speak Up Sis Magazine hosted a memorable evening at the SpeakUpSis Empowerment Center in Augusta, Georgia, our first-ever hybrid cover reveal and digital release party.
The room was filled with contributors, supporters, and community members who gathered to witness the unveiling of the 2025 Summer Edition, themed "The Music That Moves Us." This edition celebrates rhythm, resilience, and the stories that stir the soul, and the evening was a perfect reflection of that spirit.
One of our cover models and Women in Business Spotlight, Ebony Lion made the journey from Atlanta to be present for the reveal. An artist, real estate broker, and author, Ebony embodies the grace and power this edition was created to honor. She was joined by Big Unique of Augusta, one of this issue’s "Get To Know Her" features, whose presence added a powerful hometown connection to the celebration.
We were also honored to welcome in-person contributors Jimmica Itson, LaShaun B, Ellen Harrison, and regular columnist Tysheka Wright, each of whom brought the pages of this edition to life through their written voices.
Online, the celebration extended to our virtual attendees, including contributors David Owens, Author LaToya Geter, Cecilia Columbus, and columnist Tiana Tee. The atmosphere on screen and in person was equally full of warmth, pride, and community.
A special thank you Bestfriend Hidden Treasure Event Planning for the beautiful spread of refreshments and decor that elevated the entire evening. Every detail added to the experience and made guests feel welcomed, celebrated, and cared for.
This edition is more than a seasonal release. It is a reminder of what happens when everyday people show up with extraordinary stories. To everyone who contributed, attended, or tuned in, we thank you for making this moment unforgettable.
