Put up the volume and feel the joy and excitement that the teachers felt when they learned their school had won a Teachers’ Lounge Makeover from The Design Besties - with additional support from HPxD.
Sharing their mission of using the power of design to give back to educators, we have secured generous in-kind donations of cabinetry, flooring, paint and painting services and of course furniture, art and accessories from our industry friends. A project like this however requires more. We need funds to feed volunteers, clean the lounge after the messy stuff’s been done, and fly the Besties here.

While designing good-looking beds — many customizable in paint, finish, and fabric — is second nature to our community, two South Wrenn neighbors deserve a special shoutout: Paramount Sleep and Riverside Furniture.

💤 Paramount Sleep recently refreshed its Nature’s Spa collection — six styles engineered for ultimate rest and made with layers of natural cotton, silk, wool-cashmere blend, recycled steel, latex, and CertiPUR-US foams. Fun fact: Nature’s Spa is the exclusive bedding supplier to Blackberry Farm. This Market, Paramount also hosts PureCare’s new sheeting collab between Dr. Andrew Weil focused on healthy, restorative sleep.

💡 Riverside Furniture knows how to set the mood — and keep it safe — with beds and nightstands that integrate ambient lighting right into the design. Their showroom is a fine example of adaptive architecture too: a former YMCA reimagined as a multi-level gallery (with the original gym still intact) and, rumor has it, some of the best Market lunches in town!

Many of them manufacture in and around High Point including: Verellen, Lancaster, Design Theory, Cisco Home, Theodore Alexander, JP Home, Braxton Culler and Baker. Sherrill Furniture Brands and Taylor King have their factories farther West in Hickory and Taylorsville, respectively.⁠ Of the featured seats here, only Dallas-based American Leather manufactures out of state.

While you are Goldilocks-ing your way around Market, feeling the firmness, depth, spring, and ultimate comfort of sofas, sectionals, benches, lounge chairs and more, know that you can re-sit year-round and bring your clients to sit test too. If you’ve been to Market before, you know that the hunt for antiques and vintage starts days before the official start to Marketing. There’s a sense of urgency among designers to find those unique pieces that can complete a project or inspire its direction. A romp through these must-see showrooms reveals every style imaginable and things you never imagined.

When visiting any of these showrooms, prepare for a world tour through time and geography, where well-made objects, art, rugs, and home furnishings flaunt their age, history and individuality. From provenance pieces to oddities, the manufactured and handcrafted, beautiful and surreal, reclaimed and adapted are all represented, thoughtfully amassed by a discerning and eclectic group of hunters and gatherers extraordinaire who cannot wait to meet you in High Point.

September happened and the temperature changed like 🫰. And working in a metal shipping container… well it can feel a bit cold. So these days, I’m reaching for my Kantha more and more. I acquired this one (and a few others because it’s so hard to choose, they’re all so unique) several years ago at and I recently noticed that had a stash too.

Tonight I looked at our IG feed and thought it could use a jolt of fresh pattern, hence the perfect placement for a close up of a new Feizy rug. One of six hand-tufted, wool designs in the Wallace collection, this immediately caught my 👁️ in Las Vegas. Not only am I a stickler for green, the bold zig zag had me feeling nostalgic for vintage bargello.
