Last week, I was honored by Florida's Children First as the Outstanding Advocate for Children.
As I stood in the surreal weight of that moment, there was a constant loop playing in my head—names and faces of so many warriors who SHOULD HAVE BEEN standing right there with me.
Nobody survives this work alone.
And nothing that truly matters happens on your own.
If there’s ever been a field that demands a village, it’s this one.
This award isn’t just mine—it’s ours.
It belongs to the entire Children's Harbor, Inc. team, who show up in the trenches every single day, doing the hard, messy, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of work that changes lives - and - it belongs to every kid who has ever trusted me with their story, their truth, and their fight to be seen as more than what’s happened to them.
The system is most definitely broken.
But these kids? They are not.
And as long as we keep showing up—however we can, wherever we can—they’ll have a shot at more than just surviving.
Thank you, Florida’s Children First, for everything you stand for—and for recognizing not just the work, but the army of people it takes to get it done.
