From the Pacific Northwest to Piccadilly Circus! ✈️🎷

A huge congratulations to the Glencoe High School Band for their incredible performance in London’s New Year’s Day Parade! As the first band from Oregon to ever be invited in the parade’s 40-year history, these students have truly put Hillsboro on the map.

Director Ben Adams and the Marching Tide represented our community with world-class talent and dedication. Thank you to all the parents, chaperones, and donors who made this once-in-a-lifetime trip possible!

Check out the highlights of their 2-mile march through the heart of London. 🇬🇧👇

One of the stories the Herald had hoped to cover during the New Year week was the Glencoe High School Bands, who had an amazing trip to London, England. The Crimson Tide played Carnegie Hall in 2024, and were one of the only high school bands ever invited to play in the London New Year's Day Parade!...

🧾🏗️If this is the future, then the people of Hillsboro deserve a real say in it — and Oregon deserves deals that actually pay us back instead of asking us to smile while the ground gets sold out from under our kids. 💸

More Perfect Union released a feature today that puts Hillsboro’s “Data Center Alley” on the national map — and it’s the most honest look yet at the tradeoffs: farmland 🌾 and industrial land disappearing, infrastructure strain, and incentive structures that don’t reliably translate into lasting local benefit.⚡️

I spent the day with Dan Lieberman and team touring North Hillsboro and running numbers. The reporting’s takeaway is blunt: a lot of the “jobs” story is relabeling and relocation—workers shifting from other sectors into temporary construction, while long-term headcount stays limited.

🏫If you’ve got firsthand experience (worker, neighbor, teacher, small business owner), I want to hear it. This is our home—we should have a say in what gets built, where, and what we get back.

🙏 Prayers For that was today.

As we all watched, the spirit of every American who ever looked up at the Red, White, and Blue was Murdered. The hope for a better America was Murdered. The Freedom we hold to be our birthright as Americans was Murdered. It happened in real time, online, and out in the open. We can all see who is responsible for this murder and who cut them loose on the world. We can all watch in horror as it happened. We can all debate the facts- but deep down we all know it was a god damn murder. Murder. Murder. Murder. America was Murdered today.

We are all hurting tonight. Real Americans must fight on. We have no other choice.

Part 2 - 🏛️ Hillsboro’s 2026 agenda is a land + incentives push — and most residents aren’t in the room when it’s being shaped.

Here’s what City Hall is lining up for Salem (per the City’s own agenda materials):
🗺️ North Hillsboro UGB expansion (SB4 / “Semiconductor Task Force” land)
The Hillsboro Herald

🏷️ Expanded R&D tax credit (beyond semiconductors)
The Hillsboro Herald

🧾 A 5-year property tax exemption on “qualified new capital equipment”
The Hillsboro Herald

🎁 Stronger Enterprise Zone incentives

And the kicker: the City memo says community engagement isn’t specific to the legislative agenda — meaning residents may only see the plan once it’s already “baked.”

🛰️🧵 Hillsboro just gained “Ring” status — and with it, a new reality: we’re being marketed as a trans-Pacific internet gateway.

🏖️ Oregon Coast landings → 🧵 terrestrial backhaul → 🏢 Hillsboro data centers
That’s the pipeline. And once a region becomes a cable + ring + interconnection hub, the land rush gets baked in.

🤐 Here’s the part that burns: Where are the public meetings?

🏛️ Why are residents always left in the hallway with ZERO input?

🔥Cables + Ring + AI = a land rush… and we’re not invited to the map.🔥

Hillsboro isn’t just “a data center town" now. It’s a trans-Pacific internet gateway of National and International importance. Here’s how subsea cables land on the Oregon Coast, how they route into Hillsboro, and what a fiber “ring” really is.

This is how many people are feeling... if these Creightons were any number of those in power in the highest places, this would be about right. We all see it. We all know it. We, all us people of good heart and conscious, want justice for the many victims. At least the arm of the law which we know believe does not exist. This was a good scene from and powerful movie.

💙🧱 Hillsboro Community Foundation = local impact you can actually measure.

In 2025, HCF delivered $661,881 in grants, scholarships, and community support—arts & culture, scholarships, the all-inclusive playground at Hidden Creek, youth sports, and more.
The Hillsboro Herald

Also worth knowing: HCF qualifies for the Oregon Cultural Tax Credit (when paired with a matching gift to the Oregon Cultural Trust). Max credit amounts listed: $500 individual / $1,000 joint / $2,500 C-corp. (Not tax advice—check your situation.)

Let’s build 2026 the right way—locally, transparently, and together. 🤝
