Oregon and Washington County have much to be proud of when it comes to great wines, the industry we have created, and the reputation of excellence associated with them. Those who know how we got here know who Ron Vuylsteke was. Oak Knoll Winery is where it all started —and Ron was too. Here is the obituary provided to us by his family, and an invitation to celebrate his life next week. We thank Ron for all he did for our communities and send our condolences to his entire family. Well done, kind Sir!

On June 12, 1933, Ronald George Vuylsteke was the third-born child to George and Cecilia Vandehey Vuylsteke in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Jupiter Energy (a Blackrock company) is pushing hard for its proposed BESS Battery Facility in Hillsboro. The proposed location may have a Hillsboro address, but it is located North of and outside Hillsboro’s Urban Growth Boundary in a farm area not zoned for heavy industrial uses, such as 114 Lithium Ion Batteries, which is what Jupiter proposes to place adjacent to residential uses. Batteries so big that each one is the size of a semi-truck. The facility will create noise and light pollution, not to mention be a visual eyesore along West Union Road, and for those living adjacent to it. And no matter how many great things the developer or its supporters say about the energy benefits and safety features the installation will have, it will be a constant threat to public safety and property values the minute it is built.

This is a great cause and a great Organization - the money raised from goes all into our schools - no massive skim off the top like so many supposed non-profits! This is a very worthy cause!

The Hillsboro Schools Foundation is hosting a 5K Run Walk to raise funds for schools. This is the Making Strides For Education run!

HOW ARE YOUR POWER RATES? OURS ARE OUT OF CONTROL- This CAN NOT Continue- and we have to ONLY look at and Oregon's weak laws of how are rates are set! Is the P.O.W.E.R. Act signed by Governor Kotek going to help? Don't Count on it! Here is our analysis, and I see rates going even HIGHER! We are a weak state on knowing when to be tough! Very sad to see that Edwards Vacuum is going to move/shutter their jobs and location in Hillsboro. A further sign that the lights are going dim in the Silicon Forest. Will a buy this location too? The onslaught continued — data centers replacing once-vibrant workforce locations and facilities, and as a result, we lose the ability to retool and employ more. What can we do? What are your thoughts on the future of Tech Valley and this sudden change?

&LEARN We took a close look at the beautiful area known as Bendemeer, which is right along West Union Road and North up to Cornelius Pass. 4 dozen homes sit on small acreages in this little township on the edge of Hillsboro. Quietly and peacefully, they have lived, raised kids, and grandkids - the area dates back to the 1915 plat. And none of them ever dreamed that and a host of other politicians would help promote and plan for a Lithium Ion BESS Battery Storage facility with over 110 large batteries (9'Wide, 12' High, 20' long) in the backyards. However, that is what is happening unless this brave group of homeowners can repel this threat, which is funded and owned by the well-established . These batteries can catch fire - they can release toxic gases, and they belong in an Industrial Park. A hearing will be held on October 16th- wish them all luck. The future of North Plains, the games being played, and the false narrative of "outsiders" influencing things by those in power who have, in fact, taken tens of thousands precisely from "outsiders" to move the growth boundary, will all play out in the next 48 hours. We covered this story, tied in all the money and players, and are recommending Mark DeForge for the position of appointed Mayor. The city manager, Bill Reid, sitting councilor Russ Sheldon, and anyone else in power from the previous administration, have allowed North Plains to become out of compliance and beyond the laws of Oregon by not providing financials as a City that is audited and accountable. Mark is a CPA and a proven leader who is not politically affiliated, but rather a man of fiscal responsibility and an active member in North Plains, serving as both a resident and a business leader. Watch this all play out- Best of luck to the citizens of North Plains.

But are the impacts to our climate by and not being properly inventoried, considered, and minimized by this plan and the data that drove it?
