Live on #CheddarLIVE: Meltdown & Spectre Discussion

The Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities recently discovered by threat researchers could make 2018 hottest year yet in the battle between security and attackers.

For those who have not kept up with the news, Meltdown and Spectre are chip-based vulnerabilities that expose affected devices to kernel attacks. Such attacks can circumvent almost any security issues put in place, giving attackers access to critical information. To make matters worse, the patches being circulated by chip makers reportedly slow down affected machines by as much as 30%.

The vulnerabilities create a security issue for almost everyone – from consumers and endpoint users to large corporations. However, large critical infrastructure companies, such as hospitals and airlines, may prove to be the hardest hit. It is difficult, after all, to change the physics of landing aircraft to accommodate the reduced functioning speed of a patched computer.

To learn more about the discovered vulnerabilities and the potential threats involved, listen to Archie Agarwal’s interview, live, on Cheddar TV at https://business.facebook.com/cheddar/videos/2033298056990922/
