We just had to share this beautiful Santa rug hooked by Pam Jones. She worked on it with Donna Hrkman. Pam is primitive ho**er but stretched her creative boundaries with this one. She hooked it mainly with 5-7 cuts with the detail work (eyes and nose) done in 3-4 cuts.

Reminder: When sending your Holland Rug Hooking Retreat registration forms to us on March 10, please do not spend extra money to expedite your envelope. We will wait a full week to open the envelopes to make sure all the mail that has a March 10th postmark arrives.

We are excited to welcome Jenny Smallridge of The Wooly Horse as one of our teachers at the Holland Rug Hooking Retreat.

Jenny has a love for antique rugs. Much of her work is inspired by old rugs from the past, carefully studying their patterns, colors, and movement so she can recreate and share them with ho**ers. Through her work with The Wooly Horse, Jenny helps keep these treasured designs alive for a new generation of rug ho**ers.

Alongside her antique reproductions, Jenny also creates wonderful primitive-style rugs that have that warm, folk-art spirit we all love. Her patterns are primitive, folky, charming and oftetimes playful. Whether you love antique rugs, primitive designs, or both, Jenny creates a relaxed and welcoming space where rug hooking creativity can happen.

Teacher Feature: Donna Hrkman is well-known for her exceptional work with portraits, message-bearing hooked rugs, Steampunk rugs, and monochromatic rugs. As a teacher, she is passionate about inspiring, motivating, and educating her students. Donna hooks with fine cuts, but is flexible as a teacher and can teach a variety of cuts and styles.

We will be doing teacher features leading up to registration of the Holland Rug Hooking Retreat on March 10, 2026. Katie Hartner is our first teacher to feature.

KATIE HARTNER became "hooked" on wool & rug hooking over 25 years ago. She owns Woolley Fox - a primitive rug pattern business purchased from Barbara Carroll in 2014. Not only is she an avid Rug Ho**er but she also teaches primitive hooking across the country at various Rug Hooking events, sharing her love of wool and rug hooking. Her work has been featured in Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs-a juried show, Creating an Antique Look in Hand Hooked Rugs and she has been awarded the Best of Show in Primitive Style at Sauder Village's annual

Michele Mueller and I are excited to announce our Holland Rug Hooking Retreat in Holland, Michigan November 2 - November 5, 2026. We have gathered four nationally known teachers to help you create wonderful rugs in a fabulous location.
All the information about the camp is included in the pictures along with a registration page. If you click on the pictures and save them, you should be able to print them. If not, please message us with your email address and we will send them to you.
