SO MANY of my nurse friends are just done. I remember all too well the moment that I was done. Done with the political BS, done with the unfair staffing, done with the 💩 schedule.

I looked in the mirror one day at work and I thought to myself “I can’t cry and I can’t laugh anymore”…. The career I had dreamt about since I was a little girl had shattered right before my eyes and I was burnt out. It took me years to find my joy again. I tried this and I tried that, literally EVERYTHING I could think of to try to replace my nursing income and nothing came close. I had become used to the nurse lifestyle and couldn’t take a huge cut in pay. I felt SO TRAPPED! My anxiety was out the window, and I cried every time I had to go back in to work.

I knew that if I was creative enough, I COULD use my nursing degree and years of ICU and trauma training to help other people, BUT WHAT???

Enter Legal Nurse Consulting… it literally changed my life (my health and my ❤️) and I found my passion for my career all over again.

Since 2009 I have had a successful LNC business and six years ago, when nurses from all over started asking me to help them find their joy again, I created Legal Nurses Rock.

Now I get to spend my time joyfully helping other nurses work together as colleagues in an awesome field of nursing where we feel respected, appreciated, and we do it on OUR terms.

Legal Nurse Consulting has been the biggest blessing in my life and I hate to see so many of my nurse friends struggling!!! I just want to take their hand and say “come with me!!!! Let me show you the way!!!”

So today I am calling on a few brave nurses that are fed up with the bedside and are ready to make the same transition I made 12+ years ago. I’m looking for nurses that know deep down they still have a little spark for this career that we once loved so much.

My favorite thing in the ENTIRE world, is watching our nurses have Legal Nurse Consulting success. I still scream out loud every time they call to tell me they landed a new case. It’s not a competition. Nurses can support other nurses in business, EVEN in the same industry. I’m so grateful for the community we have built over the last 6+ years. “A legal nurse consultant is a registered nurse who uses expertise as a health care provider and specialized training to consult on medical-related legal cases. Legal nurse consultants assist attorneys in reading medical records and understanding medical terminology and healthcare issues to achieve the best results for their clients.[1] The specialty is a relatively recent one, beginning in the mid-1980s.[2]

A legal nurse consultant bridges gaps in an attorney's knowledge. While the attorney is an expert on legal issues, the legal nurse consultant is an expert on nursing and the health care system. A legal nurse consultant screens cases for merit, assists with discovery, conducts the existing literature and medical research, reviews medical records, identifies standards of care, prepares reports and summaries on the extent of injury or illness, creates demonstrative evidence, and locates or acts as an expert witness. The legal nurse consultant acts as a specialized I member of the litigation team whose professional contributions are often critical to achieving a fair and just outcome for all parties.[1]

A legal nurse consultant differs from a paralegal in that a paralegal assists attorneys in the delivery of legal services and frequently requires a legal education, while a legal nurse consultant is first and foremost a practitioner of nursing, and legal education is not necessarily a prerequisite. A legal nurse consultant uses existing expertise as a health care professional to consult and educate clients on specific medical and nursing issues in their cases.

Aside from within law firms, legal nurse consultants may also work for government agencies, insurance companies and health maintenance organizations, in hospitals as part of the risk management department, and may also be in independent practice.[1]”
