In 2025, Chinese researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Oceanology discovered a new species of deep-sea octopus, Grimpoteuthis feitiana. Which the internet quickly nicknamed the Dumbo Octopus. 🐙

🐙These adorable, tiny octopuses flap their ear-like fins as they swim and have adapted to thrive in the deep sea. They are named after the Buddhist and Hindu celestial beings, the feitian.

🐙How do you feel about Octopi?
