Join Me on a short 3 mile loop on the FLT to the highest point in Cortland County NY.
Location: James D Kennedy state forest. Cortland County NY
Trail: FLT white marker.

Today was a beautiful day to get out and explore. The leaves were falling in the forest like snow and every step was so crunchy as we made our way through the trails. Not a typical quiet hike haha.
I’m so grateful that my family joined me on this journey today.
This portion of the FingerLakes Trail System, short 3 mile loop was perfect for the family, even with the 2 dogs. I Highly recommend taking that adventure to Cortland county’s highest point on top of Virgil MTN 2132’
Where in NY should I hike to next? Maybe I’ll see you there.

Slide show: Saint Regis Canoe Area Spring 2021. I took a hike and found a hidden pond with a log full of fish. My stringer was so happy to cary dinner that night!

Dedicated to my wife, I had this playful mellody in my head for a while that I would humm when ever I tickled her. It’s a bouncy, upbeat, and inquisitive, just like my mind 🤣
I like using this song as a playful, feel good melody to a good memory of something.

Perfect adventure soundtrack song for the .
Every time I sojourn there, I never want to leave. From the mountains, to the Ponds, the foliage to the Fish, it has its place in my heart forever. Describing this place quickly becomes fairytale like for city folks and most rural dwellers.
Eagles, blue herron and crane that swoop down right in front of you and grab their meal from the water, large native trout slurping top water bugs, jumping out of water in a play like fashion, large mountainsides, clouds and epic rain storms. I have seen huge deer, and heard the calling of a cry of Loons. I’ve ventured to unnamed ponds and caught a limit worth of fish for dinner.
On a more comedic note, I recently have witnessed a bat that B-Slapped national singer songwriter celebrity kevinludwig_music on an epic weekend fishing trip at fishpond! Love You brother.
I’ve seen HUGE brook trout caught by Redbeards-Reel-Outdoors (follow him to see the ADK and other outdoor adventures) and heard WILD stories from others who I’ve ran into on the trail and in the waters.
It’s a place I recommend for anyone to plan a trip atleast once in their lifetime.

A good friend of mine once said to me,” sometimes you have to think outside, the box is not necessary”
To find peace one must be grounded to what makes him who he is. Ben finds peace on a body of water, perhaps with the sounds of rippling water, so silent you can hear the heat from the sun hitting the top surface as the bugs bus around and fish come up to eat.

Was a quiet night, and all through the marsh, were sounds of Pickerel frogs darting in the dark. Taking some time tonight to notice the small things in life. “ so that’s what Little frogs plopping in a shallow puddle, on the edge of a 30 acre wetland sound like.”
