Looking for something to kid-friendly to do this weekend? Urban Air Adventure Park is celebrating its 9th anniversary in Homewood.

Urban Air Adventure Park in Homewood will host its 9th Birthday Bash on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. at 800 Green Springs Highway. The first 200 guests in line to purchase a Platinum day pass will receive free basic park access for one year.

Athletes like former Homewood volleyball player Mackenzie Yoakum, who currently plays for the University of West Georgia, have already weathered NIL, the transfer portal and scholarship uncertainty. Now they face something even stranger: a paycheck from the school they play for.
What that means — and how long it lasts — is still in question.
“With NIL expanding and the transfer portal becoming a more disposable route, I think that the use of the portal is being warped to fit what these athletes initially want out of their college experience: money and a good time,” Yoakum told the Homewood Star.

Homewood's Levi Nickoli played in the North-South Baseball Classic on Monday.

AHSAA All-Star Week began in Montgomery on Monday with the golf and baseball competitions. In the North-South Baseball Classic doubleheader, the South team won 16-6 and the teams tied 7-7 in the second. However, Vestavia Hills' Gavin Smith was the MVP of the North team, hitting a home run in the first game of the series.

Briarwood Christian's Parker Daniels drove in three runs over the series. Homewood's Levi Nickoli knocked in a run and threw two innings in the second game. Rhys Jones of Spain Park also drove in a run.

Hundreds of cyclists participated in the annual Tour de Cahaba in Homewood, AL on July 13, 2025. With six route options ranging from 5 to 65 miles, cyclists enjoyed a post race celebration with food and music at Cahaba Cycles in Homewood.
