I’ve always believed that everyone has a “why” — a deeper purpose shaping the way they show up in the world. But in our latest HACK YeA! episode, Gary Kam reminded me what it looks like when someone lives that purpose every single day.
Hearing him share his story — immigrating at 10, navigating a new country, finding his voice without a clear roadmap, and vowing to never stand by when someone needed support — moved me more than I expected. His “why” has been years in the making, shaped by challenge, resilience, and a commitment to help people break barriers with him, not behind him.
What struck me most is how he turned that promise into action. The peer-to-peer mentorship program he created isn’t just a concept… it’s a living legacy. Nine years, 20+ people impacted, and countless ripples of growth because Gary chose to build the kind of support system he once wished he had.
I’m grateful to know and work alongside someone whose purpose is so rooted in service, courage, and generosity. If you’ve ever wondered how someone discovers their “why,” or what it looks like when it’s carried out with intention — this episode is worth the listen.
Thank you, Gary, for leading with heart and inspiring all of us to reflect on our own why.
