AKA Ranger Danger — Captain of the Ferret Pirates
Some ferrets come into rescue quietly.
Ranger did not.
On December 20, 2025, we received word that two ferrets were in desperate need of emergency medical care.
There was no time to plan.
No time to schedule a convenient pickup.
No time to ask a hundred questions.
Ranger needed help NOW.
So we went.
After hours on the road to pick up Ranger and his brother Jeffery, we headed straight to the emergency veterinarian. Ranger needed to be stabilized before we could even think about what came next.
And what happened to him was heartbreaking.
Ranger had gotten his foot caught in a blanket. He panicked, twisting and wrapping his leg tighter and tighter until the blanket cut off the circulation to his foot.
Unfortunately, he wasn't discovered for nearly a day.
By the time he was found, the damage was irreversible.
There was no saving the foot.
But there was absolutely a way to save Ranger.
After emergency treatment, veterinary care, and surgery, Ranger lost part of his foot.
And then...
Ranger got busy proving everyone wrong.
Today, you would never know this little guy had been through what he had.
He runs.
He plays.
He wrestles.
He causes trouble.
He hangs out with his ferret friends.
He loves people.
And he is still completely bonded to his brother, Jeffery.
Ranger has only one thing missing:
A few toe beans. 🐾
But that certainly hasn't slowed him down.
In fact, Ranger has become something of a celebrity around here. Many of you followed his recovery through our posts and videos, cheering him on as he learned to navigate life with his new "peg leg."
His veterinary bills ultimately climbed to more than $3,000.
But here's where Ranger's story gets even better.
Because of the incredible generosity of Dookin in the USA, My Name is Musky, and all of the supporters who rallied behind him, nearly 100% of Ranger's medical expenses were covered.

Today, Ranger shares a room with his brother Jeffery and 13 new brothers and sisters.
And because Ranger has his peg leg and Jeffery is nearly blind in one eye, these two have earned themselves a very appropriate title:

Ranger is approximately 4 years old, incredibly handsome, ridiculously resilient, and living proof that a disability doesn't have to define a ferret's life.
He didn't just survive.
He flourished.
