BE PART OF THE SOLUTION
Every year, thousands of kittens are born simply because someone thought, “Just one litter won’t hurt.”
Unfortunately, one litter quickly becomes many.
A single undesexed female cat and her offspring can produce dozens, even hundreds, of kittens over time. Many will end up homeless, in pounds, in rescues, or struggling to survive on the streets.
As pet owners, we all have a responsibility to be part of the solution.
- Desex your pets.
- Keep undesexed female cats safely indoors.
- Microchip and register your pets.
- Never give kittens away impulsively to strangers.
- If you cannot keep a litter, contact rescue groups and shelters for advice and assistance.
- Ensure every kitten is old enough, healthy and desexed before going to a new home.
- Plan ahead and take responsibility for your pet’s reproductive health.
At Mackay Pet Rescue Inc., we see the consequences of accidental litters every single day. Tiny kittens abandoned in parks, dumped in industrial areas, surrendered to pounds, or born to mothers who were never desexed.
The good news is that every one of us can make a difference.
MPRI still has a limited number of desexing vouchers available for adult female cats. If you meet the grant criteria, your adult female cat can be desexed for just $50. If cost has been the barrier, now is the time to act.

Being a responsible pet owner isn’t just about loving your pet. It’s about protecting them, preventing unwanted litters, and ensuring that fewer cats and kittens are born into hardship.
