Must have before your loved ones will come to the USA using Non-Immigrant Visa (B1/B2 or Tourist Visa). 🇺🇸
1. Immigration Documents Ready
Ensure he/she keeps the following handy in her carry-on:
✅Valid passport with B2 visa
✅Return ticket or itinerary
✅A simple letter from you (host) mentioning her/his visit and duration
✅Copy of your ID/address (e.g., utility bill, driver’s license)
2. Customs Declaration
✅You should not carry food items, seeds, medicines without prescriptions, or any restricted items. If he/she is carrying any gifts, ensure they are within duty-free limits.
3. CBP Inspection Tips
✅Remind her/him to stay calm and answer questions truthfully but briefly.
🔆Sample questions she/he may be asked:
🔆Purpose of visit❓Ex. To visit my son mention the City or State.
🔆How long will you stay❓About five months.
Who is sponsoring❓My son/daughter who lives in specific City and State.
4. Local SIM or Roaming Plan
✅Get her/him a U.S. SIM card (e.g., Mint Mobile, T-Mobile prepaid) or ensure her/his countrt with plan has international roaming activated for the first few days.
5. Medications
If she takes regular medications:
✅Translate prescriptions to English (if needed).
✅Keep them in original packaging.
✅Carry a doctor’s note if bringing them from any point of origin.
6. Health Insurance Access
✅Keep her insurance ID card handy. You can also preload nearby urgent care/clinic locations into your phone or hers.
7. Weather-Appropriate Clothing
✅USA weather changes dramatically — make sure she’s packed for both warm days and potential early cold spells if staying till winter.
8. I-94 Record
✅After arrival, check her I-94 online at i94.cbp.dhs.gov to confirm her allowed stay duration (usually 6 months). Take a screenshot or print for records.
9. Home Comforts
Consider:
✅Small induction heater or electric kettle for his/her use
✅Asian groceries/spices stocked ahead of time
✅Easy shoes for walking/sightseeing
10. Local Travel
✅Get her/him a SmarTrip card (for any shopping trip) or add her to Uber/Lyft apps if he/she’ll travel independently.
11. Fil-Am Community / Social Groups
✅Look into Fil-Am or community groups in the city or area — they often host events or gatherings which she/he might enjoy.
God bless everyone! 🙏🩵
