(Lori) Okay, now that Steven isn't freaking out on us all the time, can we talk about models, catfishing, and why a lot of social media pages get abandoned?
People catfishing as solo girl models from the era Destiny was an active model in is super common, and Destiny is a distresingly common one just because she isn't super active on social media to start with. If you're older and don't know what catfishing is, open a tab and Google it, we'll wait for you to come back. If we actively try to report fake pages using her pictures, ten more will pop up for every one that gets removed, and Facebook doesn't really seem to care about removing them.
One of the problems is that these people make them think they know the girls, the person posing as the girls keep pressing them for money or gifts to meet them and there's always one more hitch in the final meeting when they think they've made it there. About six years ago we had a person who had their life ruined by someone pretending to be Destiny sending messages to the page. Destiny, being a good person, decided she was going to try to help him get back on his feet. Jay had advised her repeatedly to DNI but she did, at which point he went nuts and started blaming her, the real person, for his bad decisions. If I can find the conversation I'll link it in the comments.
I suspect something similar happened to Mr. Henry just based on the context of his messages. Contacts like this are why girls don't want to interact with their fan pages and why they inevitably die.
Recent pic of Destiny for sitting through my TED Talk.
