As the rain pours down outside, our minds drift back to the night we slid into a cardboard box — our only shield from the cold and the wet — during our very first Sleep Out, hosted by Covenant House New Orleans.

Throughout the evening, young people bravely shared their stories…
Stories of being homeless at 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 22.
Stories of survival without support.
Stories spoken with vulnerability, courage, and truth.

We found our spot on the North Rampart sidewalk, marked our little square of concrete, and settled in for a long night. And in that moment, we were reminded of something essential: we are all called to care for one another, to show compassion, and to stand in the gaps where others feel alone.

Thirty percent of the youth experiencing homelessness at Covenant House come from foster care.
That reality hits close to home for us — deeply and personally.

We knew we would return home the next morning… but many cannot. And that understanding shaped us even more. It reminded us how easily young people can become victims of circumstance, and how quickly life can shift when support isn’t there.

We’re grateful that Covenant House New Orleans reached their fundraising goal — because every dollar brings hope, safety, and a chance at stability for a young person who deserves far more than life has given them.

Next year, we hope you’ll join us for National Sleep Out Night as we bring a little Bayou Love to the city.
Because when we show up together, strangers become family — and family changes everything.

🌟 Year 5: Holiday of Hope 2025 🌟
Today our hearts are full as we delivered Thanksgiving meals to the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice Facility. Lafourche Parish Group Home, and Macdonell Children. Serving foster youths and extended foster youths isn’t just what we do — it is the core of our mission, our purpose, and our joy.

This season’s giveback was made possible through the incredible support of Bayou Community Foundation, Encore Group, Thibodaux Regional Health System, and Louisiana Blue Foundation. We are truly grateful to celebrate another year of service with Steve & Alyssia Crispino and Sheena Henry by our side.

What touches us most is the ripple effect of kindness — like hearing a director share that their kitchen staff can spend Thanksgiving at home with their families because every meal has already been provided. Moments like that remind us why we show up, why we serve, and why community matters.

From our hearts to yours, thank you for helping us make this Holiday of Hope one to remember.
