Real life text between Mr. Kaminski and I Tuesday night.

Him: “On my way home. Do you need anything?”

This type of inquiry is critically important these days with our relocation to what Mr. Kaminski lovingly refers to as “Green Acres.” The closest grocery store is 10 miles away, and I’ve already bought all the good wine at the convenience store that’s only four miles away. Restocking is slow out in the boondocks.

Me: “We’re good! Taking a shower. I can explain everything.”

On a recent jaunt south of the border, I was reminded of a cultural phenomenon – and I’ve got to say, I’m all in.

First rattle out of the box, the temperatures in Cozumel in July and August are beyond oppressive. And no, I did not select the dates for our Land of the Sun excursion. I received an invitation and gleefully accepted it without thorough research – so unlike me.

Folks with their coffee are a thing – a fairly serious thing. It’s a habit. I get it. I’m just not in the coffee club.

I don’t drink coffee – never have. My dad drank it growing up, and the smell was absolutely nauseating. Fortunately, he drank it at the office during the week, and most days, he was there by 7 am. So, I didn’t get assaulted by the funky fumes on the daily – just the weekend.
