On this Giving Tuesday, we want to give a shout out to Gabriela (Gigi) Gompers, a Village resident making a big impact all the way in Mizque, Bolivia! Over the past year, she’s raised $20,000 through fundraising to build an educational center for teens, providing books, desks, musical instruments, and programs on health education and pregnancy prevention.

Inspired by her Bolivian heritage and the health inequities she witnessed, Gabriela is empowering young women to make informed choices about their futures.

From a one-room cottage with books stacked in the bathtub to the award-winning building we know today, the Spring Branch–Memorial Library has been a cornerstone of our community for generations.

For 50 years, neighbors have gathered on Corbindale Road to read, learn, and connect. A legacy built by the vision and heart of those who believed every community deserves a library of its own.
