KPFT Sessions

KPFT Sessions Solo/Duo acoustic sessions at KPFT.

05/16/2025

We’re throwing it back to the very first KPFT Session, featuring singer-songwriter and storyteller Tom Foti. This one set the foundation: unreleased originals, deeply personal lyrics, and stories that hit home—from writing for his daughters to navigating unexpected chapters of life.

Shot at 4504 Caroline with Masaya on video and Rico and Marlin on audio, this session marked the beginning of something real. It’s the blueprint for what KPFT Sessions would become: raw, honest, and rooted in Houston.

Catch the replay today at noon on The Houston Collective Radio. Full video is already live on our YouTube, and reruns air Tuesdays at 3AM on KPFT 90.1 FM.

We’ll be resuming new episodes shortly as we fine-tune a few things behind the scenes and build up new ways to showcase Houston’s music scene in a more accessible way. Stay tuned—big things are coming.

Here’s your sneak peek of "Ain’t No Reason" by Ben Jarrad & Russ Willis, only on KPFT Sessions.

Pedal steel like a gut punch. Vocals like a confession. And all of it one take, no safety net.

The full session drops this Friday at noon on The Houston Collective Radio and 1 PM on YouTube.

Houston’s sound, unfiltered and real.

Third Rate Villains take over The Houston Collective Radio at noon with their raw, stripped-down KPFT Session—four songs, zero polish, and a whole lot of heart.

CK’s voice cuts deep. G.G. Sleaze keeps it loose and real. Together, they make music that wasn’t built to be perfect—just true.

Then at 1PM, the full video session premieres on YouTube, including the exclusive final track, Excuses. Written in pieces, finished at sunrise, and delivered like a quiet storm.

Houston’s sound, unfiltered and real.

This wasn’t supposed to be the song that stuck.
Bits of lyrics in a notebook. A melody hummed on the drive home. A bridge rewritten over coffee while the baby slept.

But somehow, Excuses became the one that said it all.

Here’s your first look at the YouTube-exclusive track from Third Rate Villains’ KPFT Session—dropping this Friday at 1PM on The Houston Collective’s channel. Full session airs at noon on The Houston Collective Radio.

No polish. No safety net. Just the kind of song you carry with you.

Max Burgess was supposed to be a lawyer. Instead, he picked up a guitar and never looked back. Now, he’s everywhere—fronting bands, producing for other artists, and writing songs that hit deep.

This KPFT Session strips it all down to just Max and an acoustic guitar, letting his intricate playing and raw storytelling take center stage. From the emotional weight of Moments to the tender devotion in Brown Eyes, the self-reflection of Puppet Man, and the haunting pull of Badlands, every song tells a story you’ll feel long after the last note fades.

Premiering today at 1 PM on YouTube. And if you want the Badlands deep cut, that one’s a YouTube exclusive. Don’t miss it.

Some songs feel like they were unearthed, not written. Badlands is one of them.

Max Burgess strips this one down to just his voice and guitar, letting every note carry the weight of something lost, something searched for, something just out of reach. “Love is never one voice, heaven’s not where you think it is.” It’s not just a song—it’s a reckoning.

This one’s a YouTube exclusive—you’ll have to wait until Friday to hear it. But trust us, it’s worth it.
