Fans of First Down French, 1 of 448 foals sired by FDF have started a race on the track. In FDF’s 4th foal crop a 2013 filly, Biscuit de Feu, out of High Tide a 84 SI at 300 yards by $1.6 million winner Ocean Runaway by First Down Dash. Biscuit de Feu made 2 starts winning a 2nd at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans. That was her last race.

Our yearling by FDF is out of our TB racing mare Crookit. She had 34 starts 4 wins 6 seconds 7 thirds. 50% of her starts were top 3 finishes. We call her FDF yearling c**t “Derby” since he was born during Kentucky Derby week. His American Quarter Horse Association name is Crookit Frenchman. We hoping to give FDF his second runner and perhaps his fastest runner.

What an incredible horse!!! An incredible racehorse and an incredible broodmare !!!

It was 34 years ago this week that American Quarter Horse Hall of Famer Corona Chick finished off the board for the first and only time in her 18-race career after she acted up in the gate and finished fifth in the Bay Meadows Futurity (G1). The daughter of Chicks Beduino, who was trained by Frank Monteleone and bred by owner Robert Etchandy, would go on to win her next 13 races in a row before finishing second in her final start. Sent off at 1-10 in that race, Corona Chick lost by a head to 123-1 longshot Royal Trips, a homebred Special Effort gelding running for Abigail Kawananakoa.

After reigning on the track, Corona Chick birthed a line of fashionably royal heirs. Carrying each of her 16 foals to term, Corona Chick produced four stakes winners, seven other winners and the earners of the all-time record $3,625,157 from her 14 starters, among them was Corona Cartel, Corona Cash and Valiant Hero.

Congratulations to our Needville native Alyssa Urbanek Wade on Reserve Champion Barrel Racer at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. An extremely tough field. Led by Mowry as the event champion. Cheyenne Wimberley was 3rd and Tiany Schuster was 4th. That’s a very tough list of competitors. We proud of you Alyssa for your accomplishments.

Alyssa was Only .13 hundreds behind Kassie on a 3 run aggregate with .09 hundreds of that being in the short go where Kassie was 1st with a 14.02 and Alyssa’s 14.11 was 2nd in the short go.

Kassie Mowry is just on another level. Coming of a The Women's Professional Rodeo Association 2024 World Championship in December and recent wins at The American Rodeo and at RODEOHOUSTON
