Episode #4.5, Chapters 28-32: At last! We wrapped up the 4th book by Louise Penny, “A Rule Against Murder.” We had a great time filming this final episode and to finish off the book right, we made a “fancy meal.” Emily expanded her cooking boundaries and tried the herbed stuffed leg of lamb with delicious baby potatoes roasted on top of a herbed parmesan bed. Heather added in delicious creamed corn to stay on the summer theme but made it winter. You can see Riley’s head poking up to the right there really hoping she gets a little taste.

We are in to the next book! Stay tuned for more podcasts and more food! 😋.

Episode #4.4, Chapters 22-27: We completed one more podcast on 2024 before life became a bit busy. For these chapters, most of what they all ate were sandwiches. Heather and her husband made a delicious pull apart roll inspired by the remote atmosphere. Please enjoy these process photos of sausage and cheese pull-apart rolls. :)

Will 2025 finally bring a conclusion to book 4: A Rule Against Murder?? I have. Sneaky suspicion it will. Stay tuned!

Episode #4.2, Chapters 8-14: It was hot. It was steamy. It was deadly. Listen in to the latest episode where we discuss the drama and who was murdered! Of course lunch was inspired by the chapters. We poached salmon for sandwiches and cooled down with gazpacho!

Episode #4.1, Chapters 1-7: Heather and I wrapped up the first episode of Louise Penny’s 4th Inspector Gamache book, A Rule Against Murder. We snacked (in reality we feasted) on homemade (compliments of Heather) chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate truffles, cheddar cheese, Stilton cheese with ginger and apricot, and a goat cheese with fig jam and crushed almonds. Oh so good!

What do you think? Should cheese platters for dessert become the norm in the US??

We vote yes! 🙋‍♀️

Episode #3.5, Chapters 25-30:
We are in the thick of it and the only way to get through this episode is to pair it with soul comforting foods. Have you ever had French Onion Noodle Casserole?? We hadn’t, but this recipe is now officially on our rotation list. So easy to whip together, bakes up in a flash, and satisfies your belly like a warm, cozy blanket on a cold autumn day. Check out the recipe for yourself @ https://www.plainchicken.com/french-onion-chicken-noodle-casserole/.

‘Tis the season, so of course we followed the casserole with tea and homemade maple sugar cookies with butter cream frosting. (Heather’s baking was perfection!)

Hope you enjoy!

Episode #3.4, Chapters 19-24:
Holy moly, Chapter 24 was the motherload of all foods delicious described so far in this book. For our meal, we went with the mushroom coriander soup and the roast beef, horseradish, and croissant sandwich. These two dishes paired insanely well! Please go try your favorite sandwich / food from Chapter 24 and report back to us!

Episode #3.3, Chapters 13 - 18: So we lied, we forgot to make grilled chicken sandwiches with mango on croissants. Instead we ate Easter dinner! Baked ham, creamed leeks, brussel sprouts, and French potato salad! We snacked on baguettes, Brie and cheddar cheeses, and Marcona almonds (the best!). We satisfied our sweet tooth with a coffee cake carrot cake, French macaroons, and pound cake with strawberries and fresh whipped cream. Lastly we got our libations on with French 75, peach Bellini, and Kir Royales!

Episode #3.2, Chapters 7-12: There was so much delicious food talked about in these chapters, but for a middle of the week dinner we had to go with the shrimp cocktail, ham and cheese on fresh baked bread, French style potato salad (no mayo and no eggs!), and a delectable blueberry tart.
