Uki’s size turned him from someone’s pet into a shelter emergency. After becoming too difficult for his owner to manage, the giant wolf dog was dumped at a kill shelter, where his future looked uncertain.
His story changed when Shy Wolf Sanctuary accepted him. Instead of being judged only by his imposing appearance, Uki was given a safe place suited to his needs and a chance to remain alive.
Photos of his striking face quickly spread online. With his thick coat, tall frame, and wolf-like features, people began calling him a real-life Game of Thrones direwolf lookalike.
The resemblance was more than a visual trick. Uki’s DNA results showed 87.5% gray wolf, along with 8.6% Siberian Husky and 3.9% German Shepherd. Those results helped explain why he looked so different from an ordinary dog.
Uki’s story also highlights why large wolf-dog mixes can be challenging in typical homes. His rescue gave him room, experienced care, and a future beyond the shelter kennel where many people might have overlooked him.
