Mother’s Day is full of flowers, food, gifts, guests, and celebration.

Which is lovely… until your dog eats the chocolate, your cat chews the bouquet, or your pet gets into something they absolutely should not have.

So how do you know when it’s a true emergency and when it can wait?

Today’s episode of The Pet Parent Hotline helps you make that call with more confidence, before panic takes over.

"How can you just replace your dog?"
That’s the question so many grieving pet parents quietly ask themselves after losing a pet.

But getting another pet doesn’t mean you’re replacing the one you lost. And waiting longer doesn’t prove you loved them more.

There’s no perfect timeline after pet loss, only what feels honest and right for you.

I feel like the pets I’ve loved and lost would want two things for me: not to be lonely, and to pour the love I gave them into another pet who needs it.

Not because they can be replaced, but because they knew what it felt like to be loved that much.
And I think they’d be telling me, “Take that one in. Give it some love too. It’s okay.”

Getting another pet after a loss can bring up grief, guilt, and that awful question: “Does this mean I’m replacing them?”

Tonight’s new episode is for anyone who has loved and lost a pet and is wondering how to know when, or whether, they’re ready to open their heart again.

My guest Carla Bosacki, host of A Dog’s Devotion podcast, shares her very honest experience after losing her dog Max, and we talk about why there is no one “right” timeline after pet loss.

There’s no perfect timeline after losing a pet. Some people feel ready sooner than expected. Some can’t imagine opening their heart again for a long time. And some feel guilty for even wondering.

Today’s new episode is for the pet parent who’s asking, “Am I ready, or am I just trying to fill the silence?”

I’m joined by Carla Bosacki, host of the "A Dog’s Devotion" podcast, for a real conversation about grief, guilt, love, and what it means to welcome another pet after loss.
