King Edwards, Ft. Kodak, Keep On Pushing
A New Release from Black Crown Records Recording Artist King Edwards
Artist Bio
Hailing from South Park, Texas, and later rooted in the Southwest side since 1980, King Edwards is a name that echoes through Houston's streets and speakers. A veteran of the scene, his journey began with the 1992 local radio hit "Htown Junkie"—a gritty anthem that introduced his raw talent and streetwise storytelling to the city. He’s the kind of artist who once said, “I was in jail for 30 minutes—and that was too damn long,” proving he’s lived the life he raps about.
In 1996, King Edwards teamed up with OG JhimeDog for "Oohhh We!", a funk-fueled release that remains a hidden gem of the era. But it’s his latest single, "Keep On Pushing", that truly captures the heart of his legacy. A powerful collaboration with Kodak, released under Black Crown Records, the track is an anthem of resilience—a tribute to King’s late mother and a reflection of his own health battles during its creation. The single’s symbolic imagery of a lone road stretching toward distant mountains mirrors his journey: long, hard, but always forward.
Music runs deep in King’s circle. Kodak’s father, Oscar Altamiranda, aka DJ Beat Master, was the one who “put him in the game,” teaching him how to scratch and introducing him to the culture with classics like “Roxanne Roxanne” and “Peter Piper.”
With decades of experience, unshakable authenticity, and a message that hits the soul, King Edwards isn’t just making music—he’s moving people. "Keep On Pushing" isn’t just a song—it’s a mission.
