Vice President of Player Affairs Maurice Kelly said Peters has a "wealth of experience. All the years that he's played. He's seen every kind of defense that you can ever concoct as a defensive coordinator and with a young group of offensive alignment, his name and what he's accomplished over the years, speaks volumes.

And this role provides the perfect opportunity for Peters to bridge that gap of life after football. It's the next step in moving on from playing, while still sticking around his roots -- football.

This role was "the next best thing to be able to evolve into being that mentor or coach if that's what he chooses to do," Kelly said.

Jason Peters, the nine-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion was hired by the Seattle Seahawks.
