🗞️🎯 Cameroonian Journalists Under Attack Ahead of 2025 Elections 🇨🇲

As Cameroon prepares for its October 2025 presidential election, the air is thick with tension, and journalists are increasingly in the crosshairs.

📍In Yaoundé and beyond, brave media professionals are facing a dangerous surge in violence:

Journalists stabbed by unknown assailants

Kidnapping attempts against publishers

Stations shut down, equipment confiscated

Repeated death threats to silence bold reporting

🎙️These attacks are not isolated. They are part of a growing pattern aimed at intimidating independent voices and suppressing information that challenges power.

🛑 Press freedom is not a luxury it’s a right.
Without fearless journalism, democracy suffers. Without accountability, elections lose their credibility.

💬 “You can close a newsroom, but you can’t shut down the truth forever.”

As October draws near, press-freedom advocates are sounding the alarm: if these attacks continue unchecked, the integrity of Cameroon’s democratic process is at serious risk.

📢 Let’s stand with the journalists risking everything to keep us informed.
🕊️ Let’s demand safety, justice, and freedom of the press.
🗳️ A fair election starts with a free voice.

🇰🇪 Madaraka Day 2025: Honoring Freedom and Service 🇰🇪

Kenya marks 62 years of self-rule today, celebrating Madaraka Day, a historic milestone since gaining internal self-governance on June 1st, 1963.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) honored the occasion with a patriotic message:

"Today we honor the spirit of freedom from the Frontline to the heart of the nation."

This year’s celebrations are held in Homa Bay County, featuring military parades, cultural displays, and KDF-led community outreach to support local children’s institutions.

Madaraka Day is a powerful reminder of Kenya’s journey, the sacrifices made, and the shared hope for a united and prosperous future.

Happy Madaraka Day, Kenya!

🇨🇲 Stronger Buildings for a Stronger Yaoundé 🏘️🌧️☀️

In Yaoundé, we see more floods, heat, and heavy rain than before. These weather problems damage our roads, homes, markets, and schools.

That’s why it's time to build in a smarter way. This is called climate-resilient infrastructure — building roads, bridges, and houses that can resist bad weather. 💪

🌱 When Yaoundé builds stronger: ✅ Families are safer during floods
✅ Children can still go to school
✅ Businesses can keep working
✅ Roads don’t get blocked
✅ Our whole city grows better

Good infrastructure brings jobs, hope, and safety. It helps our neighborhoods stay strong and move forward — no matter the weather.

Let’s support smart building and protect the future of Yaoundé! 💚

🕊️ Stand Up for Human Rights in Cameroon 🕊️

Today, Amnesty International and human-rights defenders around the world are urging Cameroon’s authorities to reverse the life sentence handed down to peace activist Abdu Karim Ali, a verdict they call “an affront to justice.”

Abdu Karim dedicated himself to non-violent dialogue between communities in the Anglophone regions. Instead of recognition, he’s been punished for seeking peace. This isn’t just one man’s story, every citizen deserves the right to speak up, to organize, and to work for unity without fear of life-long imprisonment.

📢 What can you do?

1. Speak out: Share this post to amplify calls for his immediate and unconditional release.

2. Write: Send letters or emails to the Ministry of Justice and Cameroon’s diplomatic missions urging fair trials and respect for free expression.

3. Donate: Support local NGOs that provide legal aid to political prisoners.

💬 “Justice delayed is justice denied.” Let’s stand together to protect the fundamental rights that bind us all, wherever we live.

POLITICAL SHOCK IN IVORY COAST

Tidjane Thiam, the former CEO of Credit Suisse and presidential hopeful, has officially been disqualified from contesting in Ivory Coast's October 2025 elections.

A court ruled that Thiam lost his Ivorian nationality in 1987 when he became a French citizen, even though he renounced his French nationality earlier this year.

This decision has shaken the political landscape, with many questioning the transparency and fairness of the upcoming elections. Despite stepping down as leader of the PDCI party on May 12, Thiam was re-elected just two days later, showing strong support from his base.

Is this the end of the road for Tidjane Thiam, or just the beginning of a new political chapter?
Let’s talk about it. Share your thoughts in the comments.
