I have so much gratitude for what we’ve done together over the past 3 years! Thank you for being so supportive, and for learning and growing with me. 🧡 I am still around, but Small Town Social now operates completely under . I want our social media to reflect that, so these accounts will be phased out soon. See you around the small town that is the internet, friends! 🧡

Can we talk numbers for just a minute?

One of my clients posted last night about joining her email list. This morning's email went to 11 new subscribers, who signed up from that post.

Here's the thing: we get sort of numbed to the numbers, right? We have so much noise in our feeds about going viral, reaching thousands or millions...that what we're doing with our small businesses can feel, well, small.

But do the math: from 72 to 83 overnight. Maybe those numbers are small...but that is HUGE growth when you think of percentages!

I give all the credit to my client...people didn't hop over to her website to sign up because we posted anything special--they signed up because she's doing the work and building relationships and offering a service that people want. 👏👏👏

If you're feeling stuck, reach out and let's set up a free consultation for you. I'd love to help you figure out your next step to get closer to where you want to go!

Being my own boss and setting my own schedule is mostly great. On a day like today that means I can schedule time for personal errands, and sneak in an unexpected trip to College Station to pick something up.

Today’s work still had to get done, though, and I used 2 hours of my work time…so while the schedule *is* flexible, remember that sometimes being a small business owner looks like working after dinner until the to-do list is done. 😉 For a lot of the small business owners I know, 8 is an early night.

May this be an encouragement to you, friend:

We can learn new things.
We can do hard things.
And we can celebrate all the things.

This evening I’m celebrating HUGE progress in our journey.

Back to it!

I walked by the leftover Easter goodies this morning, and these caught my eye.

May we always remember that there are people on the other side of our posts, sales, offers…and that those peeps are the reason we’re in business at all.

I can’t be sure if the Rice Krispy Treat helped my concentration, but I’m pretty sure this has been a successful reading/study session. (Also…try the Mayan Mocha with cayenne. Bring a tissue, and you’re welcome!)

We weren’t kidding when we said 2022 is the year of business.

This morning I told my Boy/husband/business partner that I realized something after I finished this morning’s reading.

I can highlight and mark pages to revisit and things to look up and exercises to do until the cows come home…but if I don’t STOP and do the work and focus on the things and learn what there is to learn, this is all wasted effort.

I’m all in to learn everything I can. ✏️ I’m going to do the work instead of rushing through to the next thing.

If I could spend my work days just sitting with you, listening, encouraging, brainstorming, dreaming…
Wait.
I *do* get to do that. This week I did it twice, with a non-profit friend and a friend who’s thinking about making a living online. One of my meetings veered off into a discussion about being …that was a fun bonus!

I also got to work on a new client’s logo and website, finish a cousin’s website, meet with a client whose nonprofit is growing…and I got to do a bunch of other awesome stuff, too.

That doesn’t even include the work time I got to spend with and the side work I’m doing on .

Can I just tell you again how much I love my work?

This meeting was at t30North and they were out of lemonade. I’m off the sodas, so the sweet bartender made me the best fresh lemonade. It felt like such a gift, that unexpected act of service. 🧡

It’s ! I’m celebrating by putting myself in this chair until I finish a client task I’ve been pushing back for two weeks. (Didn’t want to go over our contracted time and, it’s kind of a slog. But, it needs to be done and I only have to do it once and it serves them well and none of them want to do it and there’s no deadline…

Today, I knock this off my list. That’s fun for me!

Small Town Social is the social media division of James Pharaon Creative.

Our vision is simple: what if the internet was more about building relationships, than building empires and building followings? We’re not interested in helping you get rich, get famous, or go viral...we’re interested in helping you tell your story, and helping you serve your people.

We’d love to hear your story sometime, friend. Reach out, and let’s have coffee sometime!
